NRHPs list
[edit]Some are NRHPs but not NHLs according to the government website. Unless they are newer designations, these shouldn't be listed here. They include the ones near the bottom of the list with #1 in the first column. Does anyone know anything about why they're here?--Appraiser (talk) 13:19, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, they are here because they have an NHL=yes tag (or something like that) in the NRIS database and were included in the NRIS extract that created the main table. It is only after going through the NHL list that you point to, that it becomes clear which are actually NHLs. They may be related to proper NHL sites, such as being contributing properties in an NHL district, or being historic districts that include a separate NHL.
- When editing other state NHL lists, I have kept such NRHPs around until I did sort out what are the relationships, until all the NHL articles are created, and until I created articles for each of these, too. I would then delete the section. It's not that important to work this way, but it is how I have chosen to work. I mean i have just found it helpful to keep them around for awhile, because I tend to link to them from the new NHL articles. You are right to question why they are there. I moved them down to a lower section in the article, and tried to clarify that they would be temporary. Is this okay? I guess I just would prefer to keep them until the main NHL table is complete and links to the appropriate NRHP articles. doncram (talk) 15:23, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- That's fine; it's probably a good idea to mention them on the talk pages to pass along the info to future editors. Thanks.--Appraiser (talk) 16:20, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- Putting the table on the Talk page is a good suggestion, it is more like Talk page material and is not intended to remain in the article. If I was actively editing the main article, I might want to keep it there temporarily, for convenience sake. But I am still hoping some others might adopt the main article to edit, so it is better to move this aside. Moved into new section just below. Thanks for the attention to this issue. doncram (talk) 17:55, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Related NRHP sites
[edit]The following sites appear to have been indicated as NHL-related in the NRIS database. They may be related to NHL sites listed in the article, such as being contributing properties in an NHL district, or being historic districts that include a separate NHL. I am placing this table here as a reference for editors of the main table in the article. I suggest editors try to sort out the relationships between the NHL articles and these, creating articles for each of these in the process, and cross-referencing them. I don't mean for this to be a permanent table in any given article, so probably it is not helpful to further develop this here, just devote some effort to creating the articles it indexes (and which currently are mostly red-links).
I noticed an IP editor's edit seeming to try to add Ohio State Reformatory to this list. As it wasn't formed properly, and no reference provided, another editor just deleted that mention. FYI, it appears to me that Ohio State Reformatory is listed on the National Register of Historic Places but is not further designated a National Historic Landmark. OHio State Reformatory, in Mansfield, which is in Richland County, appears as it should in List of Registered Historic Places in Richland County, Ohio. doncram (talk) 16:01, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
Gwynne Building
[edit]An editor added Gwynne Building to the list but i am deleting it, because i believe it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, but it is not further designated a National Historic Landmark. If it was NHL-listed, there should be a National Park Service webpage about it, search screen here, but it does not appear there.
The building does appear in National Register of Historic Places listings in Cincinnati, Ohio as it should. doncram (talk) 23:19, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

MAJESTIC (showboat)
[edit]It looks like the Majestic has been moved to Manchester, Ohio in Adams County. I would have changed the listing myself, but it looked like there was more than a simple change from Cincinnati to Manchester involved.
Here's a link from February 2019 talking about the move as a very near future event: https://www.wcpo.com/news/local-news/adams-county/showboat-majestic-moving-to-adams-county-will-remain-performance-space
And another from April 2019 talking about the showboat's arrival in Manchester: https://maysville-online.com/uncategorized/166608/showboat-majestic-arrives-in-adams-county
