Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on February 18, 2014.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that the Leader of Alderney has historically been a hereditary Governor, a Judge and a non-politically elected President?

[edit]

Alderney has always, along with Sark, been part of the Bailiwick of Guernsey since the two Bailiwicks were created in Elizabethan times.

The '1948 Agreement' did not remove Alderney's sovereignty, but simply gave the Guernsey legislature powers over transferred services (e.g. health, income tax). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nigelroberts (talkcontribs) 12:06, 18 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
