[edit]The article says it is an 8-attorney firm, but it is actually an 11-attorney firm that includes me, Paul Burglin. PaulBurglin 20:23, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Removal of COI and Notability Tags
[edit]I was the original author of this article, and the subject is an extremely well known legal author. As for the "conflict of interest," the only edits made to this article by the subject were to add a photo and citations that I requested. I specifically asked the author to put those items on the Talk page so that I could add them to the article, but he took it upon himself to add them himself. // Internet Esquire (talk) 04:22, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- The edits clearly involve more than adding a photo and a few citations, and the editor's talk page and contributions also clearly show his blatant disregard for WP:COI and WP:SPAM policies. Every edit he's made since 2002 involves either promoting his point of view or spamming articles with the multitudes of non-notable, commercial links he lists on his user page. - Not so clear or blatant to me. Mr. Taylor is a renowned expert on DUI law, and I invited him to contribute to Wikipedia. Like most experts, he abandoned Wikipedia long ago because of the anti-expert bias of Wikipedians like Flowanda. The only reason that he briefly returned was to add a photograph and citations to his biography at my request. Even if there were a "conflict of interest" by virtue of Mr. Taylor contributing to Wikipedia topics on which he is an expert, that in no way makes his biography a candidate for speedy deletion. // Internet Esquire (talk) 21:59, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Not a Candidate for Speedy Deletion
[edit]As set forth above, this article is about a notable person and is not a candidate for speedy deletion. // Internet Esquire (talk) 22:04, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- A search on the full name pulls up fluff instead of the news sources that establish Taylor as a DUI legal expert. The subject is notable, but I wonder if the article would benefit if the name was changed to "Lawrence Taylor (lawyer)" to reflect how he's identified on his website and in the media. Flowanda | Talk 05:21, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
- For those who know where to look -- i.e., law libraries -- Taylor is a singular expert on DUI. In fact, the lifetime achievement award that Taylor was awarded at Harvard Law School by the DUI college has since been renamed to include his name as part of the award. However, Taylor is also a well known author of several non-fiction works, many of which (but not all) are law related. As such, a name change for the Lawrence Eric Taylor article such as the one you have suggested would be a radical and unwarranted departure from established Wikipedia policy. // Internet Esquire (talk) 03:25, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- And yet the only thing you will add to the main article is a link to Super Lawyers? I can see why the poor man is here trying to edit his own article. Flowanda | Talk 06:01, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
