Suggesting possible Latta University page split from founder's article?
[edit]Hi @Rublamb. I recently noticed that a significant portion of the content and references from this article overlap with the "Latta University" section of the article on Morgan London Latta, the founder. I'm relatively new to Wikipedia, but I have extensive knowledge about Morgan Latta and Latta University. If a page split is deemed necessary, I would be happy to assist in the process.
We previously considered splitting out the university, similar to what was done for the house. While the house was a distinct structure and easy to separate, the university scam is deeply intertwined with his character and actions over his lifetime, splitting it out made the information feel fractured and difficult to follow. Could you explain why you believe a split is warranted in this case and which items from the original article would be moved? Thanks for taking the initiative, Oberlin Village is really underrepresented on Wikipedia, we can use all the assistance we can get! :D
We would probably also need to update the Oberlin Village , Latta House, and the Morgan Latta articles to point to this article. Dr pangloss (talk) 01:09, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
- I created this article from scratch; it was not a split from another article. Afterward, I shared some content between related articles so that there was consistency and to avoid some duplication of photos and concepts. (As per Wikipedia's guidelines, this was noted in the edit summary). Universities and colleges are generally considered notable and worthy of an article, even those that had limited benefit to society and were associated with fraud. In this case, the division is natural and exists. This article focuses on the school and its program, while the biographical article is more about the man and his crimes. You are welcome to move any content from that article to this article; you just need to indicate in the edit summary of both articles, indicating where it is from and where it is going to. Please make sure to retain a neutral, encyclopedic tone with any edits regarding the school.
- In-text links were already in place, except for the Oberlin Village article. I add links to that article and a See Also section to this article. I also added a main article link to this article in the school's article. Rublamb (talk) 01:31, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
