[edit]I added Raymond Chandler to the writers category. And I removed "most famous example" line from Tropic of Cancer. I'm not sure one could say that he is more famous than all other examples listed. Is Miller more famous than Chandler, Ingalls, De Sade? Andyandy68 21:16, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
I'm not sure late-bloomer is the best term for this, but it's something of a phenomenon. Well in least in "inspirational stories" type groups where people become depressed that they are too old to do anything. Still like I said I'm not sure this is the best name so if someone wants it moved to a better title I'm open.--T. Anthony 15:17, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
I found the article by websearch on "late bloomers", and it was exactly what I was looking for. Seems like a fine title to me. Naysayer 06:16, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
- Okay I'll stick with the title. I feel like it's a bit skimpy, but I'm not sure what good examples I'm missing.--T. Anthony 07:53, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
- This article should probably be moved to late bloomer, in keeping with our title conventions. Bhumiya/Talk 06:51, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
I think this article took precious time to write. I turned to Wikipedia on this subject because I needed inspiration on work in both music and business respectively. I know what Wikipedia is. It is a friend on the internet. Critical thought and strident accuracy has it's place. Even if the author took us on a wild goose chase with the facts not completely straight, the earnest and intent of this author is wholly appreciated by moi. Thank-you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.24.150.122 (talk) 02:43, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
I think this article is poor, and it has no references whatsoever, so may entirely constitute original research

Colin Farrell did not start acting when he was 34. He is 35 now in 2012 and he's been in Hollywood for years. Can someone site how that is true? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.254.205.36 (talk) 03:17, 11 January 2012 (UTC)
List
[edit]This article might be better as a list or separated into article and list of late bloomers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.132.80.134 (talk) 16:54, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with File:Rocky Marciano.jpg
[edit]The image File:Rocky Marciano.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

[edit]Thank you for your entirely relevant and excellent contribution on Kazuo Ohno. Dance is not an area where one would not expect to find a late bloomer, but he was certainly one. You can contribute more to Wikipedia - please. Aymatth2 (talk) 03:07, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
Child Prodigies?
[edit]Why is there a long (230 words) paragraph about child prodigies in this article? Why not wiki link the term and be done?Originalname37 (Talk?) 20:00, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
"the system"?
[edit]I feel that saying "perhaps as rebelling against 'the system'" was very unprofessional and rather assumptious, I changed it to "rebellion" —Preceding unsigned comment added by OhDoTell (talk • contribs) 07:45, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Both women considered "late bloomers", Olga Masters and Emily Kngwarreye. Neither were simplistic and did overtake their peers. Manytexts (talk) 08:05, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
Social
[edit]I have long been under the impression that late bloomer could refer to social development. Is this merely a common misconception?Cdg1072 (talk) 21:59, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
Max Planck
[edit]It seems to me including Max Planck as a late bloomer because he made is most important discovery at 31 is pretty ridiculous. Making a major discovery at that age is most certainly not out of the ordinary. Moreover the passage even says Planck got his PhD at 21, which is exceptionally young. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.64.39.197 (talk) 02:01, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- Agreed. I removed him. If that's a late bloomer, then I've never met an on time bloomer.Originalname37 (Talk?) 15:20, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
Intelligence citations bibliography for updating this and other articles
[edit]You may find it helpful while reading or editing articles to look at a bibliography of Intelligence Citations, posted for the use of all Wikipedians who have occasion to edit articles on human intelligence and related issues. I happen to have circulating access to a huge academic research library at a university with an active research program in these issues (and to another library that is one of the ten largest public library systems in the United States) and have been researching these issues since 1989. You are welcome to use these citations for your own research. You can help other Wikipedians by suggesting new sources through comments on that page. It will be extremely helpful for articles on human intelligence to edit them according to the Wikipedia standards for reliable sources for medicine-related articles, as it is important to get these issues as well verified as possible. -- WeijiBaikeBianji (talk, how I edit) 00:59, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

[edit]First published work was The Hobbit, at age 45. He really should be included in the writing section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:602:8500:F34B:D106:C677:DEA4:2AB2 (talk) 18:55, 26 December 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Why not add the prophet of Islam? He started when he was 40.
Racist list focuses on America, European and/or allies
[edit]The list is interesting but biased. So often such lists ignore the black Caribbean, South and Central American, Pacific Islander, African, North Korean, Vietnamese, Chinese late bloomers. Racism and blind nationalism are an inherent part of many research tools, methodologies, lesson plans, articles, it erases true intellect and rational thought and replaces it with racist, white supremacy. And my response will probably be attacked as opposed to rationally evaluated, thus further perpetuating the racist ideologies that I'm seeking to have us address. --2604:2000:DDD1:4900:594F:488:4187:95A7 (talk) 04:26, 27 February 2017 (UTC)

Mark Twain “late bloomer” age 34 evidence
[edit]After several searches, I can find no evidence backing the claim that Mark Twain didn't finish puberty until age 34. Beyond being a strange claim, I'm highly doubtful there's any evidence to back it up. The only results I found were from other websites regurgitating the Wikipedia article's claim.
