Talk:Landau notation

I vote against merging, because Big O-notation describes the asymptotics when the function argument approaches positive infinity, whereas the Landau symbols also include the case of considering a function at a finite argument. Example: The residue in a Taylor approximation.
- This is just a lack in the page on "big O notation". all of this could go into one subsection of "Landau" - "special case of n -> oo". — MFH:Talk 21:48, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- I also vote for the move. Landau notation seems to be pretty specific to the german-language area. So just add the missing stuff into Big O Notation and discard the rest of Landau --LordThundering 22:16, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, but the Big-O page does talk of the notation's use in describing approximatory residue. It's under "infinitesimal asymptotics". I see no reason not to merge. --Rovenhot 01:08, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
I would vote against the move on the grounds that having more articles about more specific things make it easier for the user to find information they are looking for versus trying to browse through a few huge articles. Perhaps, we could have a "See Also" link at the bottom of this page redirecting the user to Big O. --September 20, 2006.
