My biggest concern is the lack of an architecture section, but the article is solid and has a good source mix in the Kennedy section. I also have some improvements to source citations to consider. Ping me when addressed. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 02:02, 6 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Did you know? If you fancy doing so, I always have plenty of GA nominees to review. Just look for the all-uppercase titles in the Television section. Reviews always appreciated.

  • One of these nominees (WTVX) is in the same area as the instant article. Who knows, someone might once have watched channel 34 in that house in the 80s or 90s!

Copy changes

[edit]

I went looking for an Architecture section but didn't find it. I understand this property has had trouble being listed and reports may have been pre-internet, but a discussion of architectural features somewhere is merited. Right now, there's very limited and scattered info in this article about modifications and general style.

Lead

[edit]
  • "Mediterranean Revival style" shouldn't be hyphenated. (Also in the early history section)

Kennedy ownership

[edit]
  • "spacious living quarters." MOS:LOGICAL pull the period outside of the quotation mark. (This occurs a few other times.)
  • Kennedy Sr. also hired Maurice Fatio, an architect with several notable works, to design a two-floor car garage, pool pavilion, and tennis court. He also enlarged the estate by purchasing adjacent land. Drop the "also" in the first sentence to avoid consecutive sentences of "also".
  • The two paragraphs about failed listing attempts awkwardly split the William Kennedy Smith rape trial information. The introductory sentence is two paragraphs before the explanatory content.

Subsequent ownership

[edit]
  • Nicknaming the house Castillo del Mar ("castle by the sea"), the Castles retained furnishings from the Kennedys in several rooms, he added fireplaces and replaced some windows and doors. Comma splice, and the "he" is unclear because it's "the Castles" and not "Castle".
  • Hyphenate "15-year"
  • The Florida Times-Union attribution should be to the Palm Beach Daily News.
  • In June 2020, Goldman sold La Querida to its current owners, Carl and Mary Jane Panattoni for $70 million. Add a comma after "Panattoni" to complete the appositive.

Sourcing and spot checks

[edit]
  • [16] appears to be reprinted from The New York Times. The original is in TimesMachine (paywall) [1] as "Kennedy Plans to Appoint Harriman a Roving Envoy: Roosa, New York Banker, to Manage U.S. Debt—Landis Is Given Job" by W.H. Lawrence, Dec. 30, 1960, pages 1 and 8.
  • [18] should attribute The Palm Beach Post as the original publication, having apparently been syndicated to The Florida Times-Union.
  • [28] should be Atlanta, not Atlantic. (It looks like this is a joint Sunday edition and the paper should be credited as The Atlanta Journal/The Atlanta Constitution.)

Reviewed: 1, 2, 16, 17, 29. No textual issues.
