Talk:Kingdom of Sam'al
Appearance
Hi Ksanyi,
A few comments that might help you improve the article:
- The article Sam'al already exists. Unless you include some significant details in this article that cannot be fitted in the article about the archaeological site, it might be better to merge this article into Sam'al.
- Year names, centuries etc. are usually not wikilinked.
- Spelling needs to be consistent; it's Sam'al, so use that name throughout the article (and not Samal).
- Categories should be fixed; you cannot pipe them.
- You give a Hungarian book as the source. Did you actually use that book, or did you just copy that citation from the Hungarian page? If the latter, you cannot include it as a source here, because your source is the translated Hungarian page.
- Place appropriate wikiproject banners on the talk page
- Place Template:Translated page on the talk page.
- Please try and find more up-to-date literature (and preferably English, there's plenty of it about Sam'al); for example, Akkermans & Schwarz 2003: Archaeology of Syria, and try to use inline citations.
- Some wikilinks do not work; seems you mixed up ]] and [[.
- If you start a sentence with: "There's an opinion" (which might be better phrased as something linke 'It has been argued that...'), than we need to know who says/thinks that; so a citation is needed.
- You already link to Sam'al in the article, so it doesn't also have to be in a See also section.
- There are many red links in the article; but some might exist in a slightly different spelling.
Hope this helps! Zoeperkoe (talk) 13:59, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
Hi Ksanyi,
It's me again. I'm afraid this will most likely be a merger; pages like Carchemish, Ebla, Mari all describe both the site and the history of the political entity they represented, so that would probably be the best way to go for Sam'al as well. I just saw that the history section of that page is really small, so why don't you include your work there?
Hope this helps!

- Also, a handy wiki trick is to do
- [[Kingdom of Carchemish|Carchemish]]
- when you want to point to an article but have the text show something else.Ploversegg (talk) 16:43, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
