I wasn't trying to advertise the company, all the information in this article is true. I simply noticed that there was no information at all for a big company and wanted to give it an article. I will re-write it if people think it is neccessary. I was hoping more people would expand on it. I can see why some might think the history is a bit biased. The history is from 1990-95, all of it true. I have no affiliation with Unitrin Inc.(Chasecarter (talk) 00:01, 10 December 2007 (UTC))[reply]
All the history was obtained from www.fundinguniverse.com. If you view the sources at the bottom you will see the information comes from reputable places, including, but not limited to The Wall Street Journal, Washington Post and it all comes out of the International Directory of Company Histories, Vol. 16. St. James Press, 1997. I just didn't think I needed to cite all the sources from the source I got it from. I believe the International Directory of Company Histories is proof enough that the history is true.(Chasecarter (talk) 00:24, 10 December 2007 (UTC))[reply] I just added a criticism section and a list of competiors in an attempt to balance the article.(Chasecarter (talk) 02:40, 10 December 2007 (UTC))[reply]

This article makes no mention of the historical Kemper Corporation that was first located downtown Chicago and then in Long Grove Illinois in the early seventies. I worked for them there as an Industrial Hygienist in 1976 studying worker exposures to toxic substances so the underwriters could figure out how many were going to die. (!) There was an 18 hole golf course surrounding the building where the Kemper Open was held every year; it seems to now be called the Kemper Lakes Golf Club near Old McHenry Road and IL-22. I understand they went under during one of the late 20th century financial crises. The modern building still stands and holds several different companies.
