Common Name?!

[edit]

Should this article be titled "Karen Winters" seeing as how she is referred to as this. An example would be, immediately when Sharon married Jack her article was retitled "Sharon Abbott". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.94.143.90 (talk) 19:39, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

She is in the credits as "Karen Winters," but "Karen Taylor" is her most common name, used from 2007 to the end of 2008. I could care less, really---it's the constant moving between users that bothers me. Dmarex (talk) 19:51, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Common names is something that's been discussed a few times by the Soap Opera Project and in other articles during moving debates. There's also a policy on it WP:COMMONAME. Just because the Sharon Newman article was changed right away doesn't mean that that's the way it's supposed to be. The character is more commonly known as Sharon Newman, not Sharon Abbott. It's the same with Karen Taylor. Since the marriages are mentioned in the name of the article, I don't see a point in moving articles with every storyline twist. The result of the proposal was PAGE MOVED - seems quite reasonable and consistent with our naming conventions. Also, see discussion above. -GTBacchus(talk) 00:16, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Karen WintersKaren Taylor (The Young and the Restless) — As I said above, we should stick to common names for articles per WP:COMMONAME. This character is not most commonly known by the married name she took just two months ago and most likely won't be keeping for very long. She is most known by the name she has held since her creation in 2007, which is Taylor. To move an article based solely on the fictional happenings of a television show is not encyclopedic and can become confusing. — Rocksey (talk) 19:06, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
