Austrian
[edit]The article currently reads: "There, he was one of many German nuclear physicists". However had he was born in Radstadt, which is in Austria. One could reason that technically Austria "re-emerged" in 1955, but I don't think the Nazi occupation of Austria should be allowed to "legally" cancel Austria. So I would disupte "one of many German xyz" statement here. 2A02:8388:1643:D680:7C20:EEFA:982E:22B7 (talk) 00:31, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
Schintlmeister and visits to Austria
[edit]This is a quote from the article:
On Schintlmeister’s return to Vienna, he was invited to the British embassy, where a Scientific and Technical Intelligence Branch (STIB)[21] officer asked him about his time in the Soviet Union. Schintlmeister declined the request. Once, visiting Austria after he had taken the positions in Dresden, British officials offered him the choice of either defecting or becoming a source in the Bloc, preferably the Soviet Union. STIB archives confirms that Schintlmeister was a target of British MI6, the Secret Intelligence Service.[22]
I am suspicious about the facts: How could a nuclear physicist working in East Germany get an exit visa to visit Austria in the 1950s and 1960? There must be something behind these trips. TomyDuby (talk) 20:34, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
Schintlmeister is only the translator of the book by Bohr and Mottelson, the same is true for the book of Frenkel (the amazon lists are misleading in this respect).--Meilenweit (talk) 13:28, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
