Deletion

[edit]

Please do not delete this article! I believe that a radio drama series with five seasons under its proverbial belt deserves a page on Wikipedia.

E. Novachek (talk) 19:48, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree! Jehorn (talk) 21:21, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You!

[edit]

I would like to thank everyone who saved this article from deletion, and recognized its worth on Wikipedia. I would also like to thank everyone who improved the article in ways that I cannot, with my limited knowledge of HTML.

THANK YOU!

E. Novachek (talk) 19:47, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Delighted to see that my nominating it for deletion has done the trick, and turned it into a worthwhile article. SNALWIBMA ( talk - contribs ) 20:53, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It still needs some work. I will try to if I have time Jehorn (talk) 20:34, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That oftentimes will happen with AfDs, people rush to improve them. TheAE talk/sign 02:57, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Episode List

[edit]

I think that we should make a page of the JP episodes with summaries that we make.In other words, not pasting info from the Official Site Keen Peach (talk) 00:38, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That sounds like a good idea. Jehorn (talk) 16:05, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I suggest creating List of Jonathan Park episodes, so as not to clutter up this page with lists. TheAE talk/sign 02:57, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I was thinking something like this List of The Andy Griffith Show episodes with episode summaries and trivia. Keen Peach (talk) 23:09, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that would be good to have and expand. For now, I started a basic List of Jonathan Park episodes, but if you want, Be Bold and add information to it! TheAE talk/sign 23:14, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Listining Online problem

[edit]

You can't listen to JP anymore.I e-mailed Vision Forum about it but I'll remove the link for listening. Keen Peach (talk) 02:41, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, we haven't been able to in a while. The link should be removed. TheAE talk/sign 02:57, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It has not been working for a week now. I think it is because they just finished going through vol. 5, and they are almost done making vol. 6. It will probably be back up soon. Jehorn (talk) 23:00, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It would be nice if it was on Oneplace.com. Keen Peach (talk) 04:45, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This is the response I got from Vision Forum

"regrettably, we now longer have Jonathan Park playing on our website. I am glad to note that you may look for radio stations which broadcast Jonathan Park at the following link: http://www.jonathanpark.com/corporate/stationmap.asp

Occasionally, you can download a free Jonathan Park episode on Behemoth.com: http://behemoth.com/home/" What a bummer! Keen Peach (talk) 21:47, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The problem's over.You can listen now!http://www.jonathanpark.com/radio_drama/episodes/player.aspx

Character Sketches

[edit]

Can someone help me and do some character sketches? We need some for Jonathan, Katie, Angela, Jesse, Ryan, and Martha. Maybe we could do section about the Junior Response Team (Thad, Timmy, Mike, Eddie). We can also do something for Myles Morgan and the Explorer's Society. I haven't got much computer time, so I need some help. If you need help with the characters, I know a lot about each one, and can probably tell you what you need to know. E. Novachek (talk) 02:44, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but I don't know too much about them. In the future, it will good to create List of Jonathan Park characters, if it gets long. Good work, though! TheAE talk/sign 03:07, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Category: Radio Drama

[edit]

AE, I undid your edit, which modified the category "Radio drama" to read "Christian radio drama," because I created the page and didn't want Jonathan Park to be construed as if it is for Christians only. I don't want people to think that only "Jesus freaks" listen to Jonathan Park. I want visitors to the Wikipedia site to see Jonathan Park as a legitimate, viable radio drama that is well done and a pleasure to listen to. Perhaps I've been a coward, and I've been too spineless to shout to the world that Jonathan Park is actually a Christian radio drama. I just don't want non-Christians to think that Jonathan Park is for Christians only. The way they see Jonathan Park is likely the way they'll see the Biblical Worldview, and if they see Jonathan Park as radical and over-religious, they'll see the Christian Creationist Worldview a similar way. What if we put two links on the category section one "Christian radio drama" and another simply "Radio drama"? I'm afraid that I overreacted, and I apologize. Huck2012 E. Novachek (talk) 15:20, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, thanks for explaining. I have no problem with adding both categories (and perhaps more, "American radio drama", etc.), so I've added it. God bless, TheAE talk/sign 21:09, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sourcing

[edit]

Blurbs advertising the topic for sale really aren't a WP:RS, nor are they third-party. HrafnTalkStalk(P) 05:59, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would further point out that the main source for this article are advertising blurbs (4 blurbs & JP's own website). This does not add up to WP:Notability. HrafnTalkStalk(P) 04:51, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good call, Hrafn. I nominated this article for deletion when it first appeared, in January 2009, on the grounds that I could find no third-party sources referring to it. It survived the AfD, but there is still very litle evidence of notability established in reliable sources. It needs better sourcing, and writing in a style that is less like a blurb, or deleting. SNALWIBMA ( talk - contribs ) 08:39, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm still debating speedying it as "blatant advertising". The blurb-sourcing plus the writing style (which is little different from a blurb itself), certainly lends itself to this. HrafnTalkStalk(P) 10:04, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's about time you stopped attacking this page with your blind and weak arguments. If the Christian Creationists attacked all the blatantly biased evolutionist articles like this, you'd be up in arms. You would be raging mad against us. However, Christ has taught us to be meek. We're also taught to be bold. So I boldly say, treat the Creationism articles like you would the biased evolutionary ones. E. Novachek (talk) 01:39, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you E. Novachek for that irrelevant rant. Now address the point at hand -- the lack of reliable sourcing for this article. HrafnTalkStalk(P) 05:51, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As neither E. Novachek, nor it would appear anybody else, is prepared to address the complete lack of reliable third party sourcing for this article, I'll be renominating it for deletion shortly. HrafnTalkStalk(P) 03:37, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've just (again) spent a few minutes searching for any reliable third-party information about this topic, and I can find nothing. There are heaps of Google hits, but they are all advertising for the series, or for its spin-off merchandise, plus one or two blog entries. I conclude that Jonathan Park it does not meet the criteria in Wikipedia:Notability. There is absolutely no "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject". If anyone cares to nominate for deletion, I'll be right behind you! Note that the two content forks at List of Jonathan Park episodes and List of Jonathan Park characters will also need dealing with.
