[edit]Describe John's books
[edit]John Connolly may perhaps be the best mainstream novelist working today. In my opinion his books bring both fastidious research in regards to the background and setting of his novels as well as an eerie cynicism enveloping man's behavior towards other men. The main character of his novels - Charlie Parker - is destined, it seems, never to be happy yet his doggedness and imperfection is what makes him such a unique and fascinating character. Connolly mixes and matches noir, mystery, crime and supernatural elements in his stories.
- You need to read them all, in order, to best appreciate the genius of his work.

One thing that's truly remarkable about the Charlie Parker novels is the body count. Someone should do a tally. 70.112.186.143 (talk) 20:50, 11 October 2010 (UTC) Eric
I agree about the body counts. But isn't that true of all the genre? In John Sanford's "Prey" series, Lucas Davenport & friends have quite an amazing body count, and that's all without bringing in the supernatural forces. timmmy19 Timmy19 (talk) 16:11, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
Discuss John's Characters
[edit]It's been a while since I my last Connolly/Charlie Parker novel, but in the Wikipedia article it says that Louis' partner Angel is white. That may be true, but I'm pretty certain that Angel has been identified as Puerto Rican in the early stories. I don't have time right now to go back and check.
