This page is informational. The article talks about what the website provides, but does not advertise for the company. If administrators can point to specific texts, please advise so appropriate changes can be made. More information will be added shortly. Jlfan 05:44, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think this is blatant advertising, and this has a source which both asserts and supports notability. --Haemo 05:46, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have edited several parts of this article which were straight copies from the website, it is still a work in progress.--Yoshi.features (talk) 11:57, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Free trial

[edit]

The article also fails to mention that the so-called "free trial" their website offers is actually a permanent subscription and the "free" gifts offered at the beginning are there to confuse you to give them your credit card details (to pay for the postage). After this you need to actually subscribe to one of the paid options in order to access the page where you have the option to cancel your subscription - otherwise the bills for your life time account keep coming. These are all facts anyone can look up by logging on to their website. As for the gifts (package of CD:s), although anecdotal, I personally never received anything but bills from them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.250.70.125 (talkcontribs) 08:40, 6 March 2010‎

I have the same experience. It seems the person who created and maintains this article is associated with the company, and is mainly just doing it to promote their site. 126.7.231.244 (User ) 21:50, 8 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Same here, their marketing is highly aggressive (when creating an account one is offered a free gift which "we can really only offer you this once", as a pretext for obtaining credit card information). That they created this wiki page as part of their marketing strategy seems very plausible to me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.109.20.217 (talk) 22:40, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I've tried to address this in the Controversy section. On one hand, I believe it's mostly a problem with miscommunication. On the other hand, I think JPod is willingly communicating vaguely so that users assume the free account is better than it is. The $1 bandwidth charge for the Ultimate Getting Started package also falls on the bad side of sketchy. The best way I can think of to address this is to lay out that there is controversy over these aspects, and to explain how it actually operates as clearly as I can.
