I do not know the answer to the question, but I think it would be interesting to find an answer. I've seen no evidence whatsoever that this is the case, and a similar question on Yahoo Answers said the same thing. "McCain" is a relatively common Irish/Scotch-Irish surname. Moncrief (talk) 06:35, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's possible, as John McCain's ancestors came from North Carolina to Mississippi and had plantations there. Louisiana isn't far.. but it would be a distant relation, and there isn't any substantial evidence to add it to the article at this time. -- Willthacheerleader18 (talk) 17:53, 2 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
