Can we please decide on a spelling for Wladislaw/Wladyslaw/Vladislas? The first and the last already exist as pages...JHK

Actually, even Wladyslaw was an oops on my part. I added the /talk here to discuss using anglicized or Polish-style names for the monarchs, then settled on anglicized when I noticed that they seem to have active links already. The I forgot to change the first Jagiellonian's name in the list back to Ladislaus I. For the sake of consistency with Casimir et al, I'm thinking all his entries -- Wladislaw/Wladyslaw/Vladislas/PartridgeInAPearTree should point that direction. -- Paul Drye

Last sentence is inaccurate. Sigismund had more sisters as heirs, not just Catherine. Note also that Poland was not hereditary monarchy. --Szopen

Name of dynasty in Polish is Jagiellons, Jagiello being reserved for Wladislaw Jagiello, the founder. What about English? Is really dynasty called "Jagiello" in English history books, or Jagiellonian, or Jagiellon? --Szopen
