I removed the following sentence:
"However, it has been acknowledged that the group's primary objective was to weaken Cold War consensus by promoting the ideas of the Cuban Revolution." (Footnote: http://www.city-journal.org/2014/eon0925ss.html, an article by Sol Stern)
I removed the sentence for two reasons:
(1) The sentence is not a true statement. FSM was a coalition of a number of campus organizations that spanned the gamut of political thought. Among the organizations composing FSM were YRS (Young Republicans), the Conservatives for an Open Campus, CCR (California Campus Republicans), and CAL (Conservatives at Large) (reference: http://texts.cdlib.org/view?docId=kt687004sg&brand=calisphere&doc.view=entire_text).
(2) The sentence that I removed is not supported by the referenced footnote. Indeed, Sol Stern's article does say "Our signature political issues were support for the Cuban Revolution and opposition to the liberal Cold War consensus", but the word "our" doesn't refer to the FSM, but rather to Stern's fellow radicals who started the magazine Root and Branch.
