reason for article
[edit]I read mention of Jack Alderman in the Guardian and then looked him up on Wikipedia. He wasn't there! So this article is a first attempt. G J Coyne (talk) 13:53, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
clarification of quote
[edit]Thanks to TFBCT1 for trying to resolve this quote into better English. I've left it as "...but was immediately removed to the 'Death House' where he spends [sic] the next two weeks in isolation from..." so that the quote is accurate, but it doesn't read well, does it?
Maybe the quote should be split into two accurate quotes?: "...but was immediately removed to the 'Death House' where he" [spendt] "the next two weeks in isolation from...". Perhaps that makes it more readable, but retains accurate quoting? —Preceding unsigned comment added by G J Coyne (talk • contribs) 09:42, 26 September 2008 (UTC) G J Coyne (talk) 09:51, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
Alderman is not and has never been the longest-serving US death row inmate
[edit]Gary Eldon Alvord arrived on death row in Florida on April 9, 1974, so before Alderman was received on death row. And Alvord is there still, as of my posting here. Alvord is the longest-serving US death row inmate ever and he is still alive... . Thanks for that qualification. I must remember to check these "longest" claims! Is Alderman the longest-serving death row prisoner who has been executed, I wonder? G J Coyne (talk) 14:31, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
