The exit list should cover the Eastern Spur
[edit]The Eastern spur is designated I-95, not the western spur. Crazyswordsman 13:47, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
Mind the gap
[edit]A photo of the warning signs at the I-95 gap would be excellent. I have bad memories of getting lost in that gap....--M@rēino 15:07, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
Maybe I'm missing something, or the map I am looking at is wrong, but why not designate I-95 from the I-95/295/495 junction in Delaware over the current 295 into New Jersey, then have it follow the New Jersey Turnpike. The old section of I-95 that current exists would be re-signed as I-295. Is there something I am missing with this or does that solution make too much sense? --Holderca1 18:11, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
- It does make too much sense. The two problems I've heard as to why that didn't happen are (1) minimizing Interstate designations on toll roads, and (2) that would make it so I-95 no longer directly serves Philadelphia. I think the page on http://www.nycroads.com explains it in further detail. -- NORTH talk 22:02, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Interstate standards
[edit]Other than being a toll road (in which case none of the Turnpike is built to Interstate standards), how exactly is the Turnpike below Exit 6 "not built to Interstate Highway standards?" Is it that it bypasses Philadelphia? That's not really an issue with the construction of the road itself, but rather its alignment. Otherwise most of the Turnpike actually exceeds most Interstate standards (lane width, grading, etc). Mjj237 05:19, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Error in NJTPK/I-95 Designation
[edit]I just posted a comment on the main New Jersey Turnpike discussion page. The designations shown in this article are incorrect. When the PATPK/I-95 connector is complete, then I-95 will begin in NJ at Exit 6 as stated. Until then (and for decades prior), the Turnpike does not become I-95 officially until Exit 10 in Edison, and there are numerous signs in both directions stating "To I-95" between 7A and 10. 71.125.129.29 23:24, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
- Please see the I-95 straight line diagram (3rd one down in "External links"), as well as this page. Officially, I-95 does end at the Pennsylvania state line on the Pennsylvania extension.
- That being said, you may be correct that the statements in the article regarding signage are incorrect, as I've never seen any sources to confirm this. -- NORTH talk 23:37, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
Why was the NJ Turnpike section of the exit list removed?
[edit]While they may SEEM to be identical... the I-95 version listed I-95 mileposts, while the NJTP version lists the NJTP mileposts. They were NOT identical. I vote to have it added back to the page.Famartin 14:50, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
- How about adding the I-95 mileposts to the Turnpike list? --NE2 18:07, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
- I suppose that would be acceptable as well Famartin 01:24, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
Alternate Route
[edit]I live in Lawrence Township, and people always ask for the turnpike when 95 becomes 295. The problem is going to the closest turnpike entrance makes no sense. What they should do is get off 95 then and take 1 north to New Brunswick and then get on 95/turnpike. 95 North becomes 295 South at Route 1 BTW. I'm not sure if the advice part belongs in an encyclopedia, but it does make sense. The route 1 demarcation is important, and should be included. 24.0.60.105 (talk) 06:52, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
- What does signage on northbound 95 where it become 195 say? Is there a direction to use US 1 north? If drivers exit to take US 1, it looks like there are a few ways to get back to the turnpike, and thus also a few ways to get lost or stuck in heavy street traffic. It might be best to leave this direction out, even though locals may use it. Sswonk (talk) 14:25, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
Northern End of New Jersey Turnpike along I-95
[edit]Before editing the exit list box (and maybe starting another disagreement), I'd like to get people's opinion about where the "North End of NJ Turnpike" should be placed. Right now, it's at Exit 68 for U.S. Route 46. However, the Turnpike officially ends at the Fletcher Avenue overpass in Fort Lee (where the sign says "END NJTP"). What are peoples thoughts on this? Should that be moved to "Exit 72" (for US 9W/PIP/NJ 67)? Mlaurenti (talk) 15:03, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
I see your remark is now 7 years old, but let me suggest keeping in some note that US 46 was the north end of NJ Turnpike, and is still the north end of the tolled highway. I-95 beyond that, up to GWB approach, now comes under that Turnpike authority but is not tolled. Carlm0404 (talk) 11:12, 19 September 2018 (UTC)

There is no longer an Interstate 95 Trenton Section
[edit]Hello fellow Wikipedians:
There is no longer an Interstate 95 Trenton Section. This section is now Interstate 295 from Exit 67 at U.S. Highway Route 1 (Brunswick Pike) to Exit 51 at Taylorsville Road in Pennsylvania. The changes have been made by the NJDOT (New Jersey Department of Transportation) from Exit 67 on Interstate 295 to Exit 2 on Interstate 95 (Trenton Section) at CR (County Route) 579 Beaver Tavern Road and by the DRJTBC (Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission) from Exit 2 on Interstate 95 (Trenton Section) at CR (County Route) 579 Beaver Tavern Road to Exit 51 at Taylorsville Road in Pennsylvania. [edit]STOP CHANGING MY EDITS ITS ANNOYING!!!! 😡😡😡😡😠😠😠😠👿😾👎🏻 CamdenFreeway295 (talk) 22:31, 13 August 2019 (UTC)
- I (Dough4872, you misspelled my name) had reverted your edits because they created unnecessary redirects and redlinks. Also referring to the New Jersey Turnpike as "famous" is a peacock term per WP:PEACOCK and should be avoided. Dough4872 22:36, 13 August 2019 (UTC)
Sorry about misspelling your name, but the New Jersey Turnpike is “famous” for being one of the most traveled routes in the us. By the way, I live in New Jersey. CamdenFreeway295 (talk) 22:40, 13 August 2019 (UTC)

- Yes, you may see the New Jersey Turnpike as a "famous" road, but we are not supposed to use those terms per the link above, it's puffery. Dough4872 22:41, 13 August 2019 (UTC)
Sorry for the misunderstanding😃 CamdenFreeway295 (talk) 16:02, 14 August 2019 (UTC)
Also how do I get a profile like you? 😔 CamdenFreeway295 (talk) 16:13, 14 August 2019 (UTC)
- @CamdenFreeway295: This isn't the place to ask these questions. This is the place to talk about Interstate 95 in New Jersey. Explanation on putting the world "exit" in lowercase
[edit]It has come to my attention that when the article mentions exit numbers, it is now referred to as, for example "exit 8A" instead of "Exit 8A." Could someone please explain why this is new norm? It looks somewhat funky. Mlaurenti (talk) 16:00, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
- Exit is in lowercase since it’s not a proper noun. Dough4872 16:12, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
- Okay. But I'm confused: why do some Government websites, such as NJDOT, capitalize the "E" when referring to an exit number? Thx. Mlaurenti (talk) 16:35, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
- NJDOT has the right to do what it wants, but the proper noun versus not proper noun rule applies. In encyclopedic form, it's a regular noun. Mitch32(sail away with me to another world.) 17:16, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
- Ok. Thanks.Mlaurenti (talk) 17:29, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

Detail map needed
[edit]It is requested that a map or maps be included in this article to improve its quality. Wikipedians in New Jersey may be able to help! |
A map showing the cancelled Somerset Freeway and former I-95 gap would be very helpful. -- Beland (talk) 19:50, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
Going to need updating.
[edit]So, apparently sometime last year the NJDOT/NJTA petitioned for and was approved by AASHTO to redesignate the eastern spur of the NJ Turnpike as I-695, as the western spur is the sole roadway now signed as I-95 to encourage I-95 through traffic to avoid the more local traffic along the eastern spur (and because the I-95/I-80 interchange is physically structured with the eastern spur principally feeding to/from I-80 while the western spur continues directly as I-95 to the GWB. Subsequently, our description here of the eastern spur being the real I-95 and the western spur being 95W is outdated. oknazevad (talk) 02:10, 14 February 2024 (UTC)
Merger with New Jersey Turnpike article.
[edit]I think we shroud merge this with the better written New Jersey Turnpike article. The entirety of I-95 in New jersey is concurrent with it anyways. That guy who plays games (talk) 05:32, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
- If I-95 completely overlapped the main New Jersey Turnpike, then I might agree. If I-95 didn't have significant history separate from the main New Jersey Turnpike, then I might agree. As it stands though, there is quite a bit more to I-95 than the turnpike, and thus separate articles make more sense to me. Imzadi 1979 → 05:50, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
- But as the article stands, it notes nothing relatively notable. That guy who plays games (talk) 06:28, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
