Rejecting the deletion by Arthur Rubin

[edit]

Hi Arthur Rubin, I added new categories and some important lists of international rankings of South Korea. I don't understand why Arthur Rubin deleted this important list. As following his recommendation, I edited and added Edit summary of this article. I assume you deleted this because of its lackness of edit summary. Thus I did it. Please re-consider the deletion of this article. Thank you. Polk540 (talk) 01:24, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I proposed deletion of the article. There is no guarantee that the proposal will be accepted. However, if you could explain why the article doesn't violate WP:NOT#STATS, it would be appreciated. — Arthur Rubin (talk) 01:35, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Add my vote to deleting the article. Mindless lists and rankings seem to pop up everywhere in Korea-related articles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.240.61.2 (talk) 04:18, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Could you please tell me the reason for deletion? Since I am new user of Wikipedia and user of foreign language as a mother tongue, it is hard to understand the policy. Is it because of its excessive length? Like the other international rankings of particular contry, it has no problem except it length. Thus to avoid its deletion, should someone or I write an explanatory text?

Please see International rankings of the People's Republic of China and International rankings of the United States, then tell me the differences. I appreciate it. Polk540 (talk) 23:38, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not stats

[edit]

The deletion discussion did not reach a consensus. The nominating user mentioned Wikipedia:NOT#STATS, which states that Wikipedia is not an "Excessive listing of statistics. Long and sprawling lists of statistics may be confusing to readers and reduce the readability and neatness of our articles. In addition, articles should contain sufficient explanatory text to put statistics within the article in their proper context for a general reader." Thus, I don't think that NOT#STATS applies to this case since it is a list, not a regular prose article. If the nominating user wants some "context" then I'll put in some pretty pictures.
