Contested deletion
[edit]This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because this brand is by far the major product in the global field of all marine coatings. This is commercially a multibillion market, where International has the largest share. I created this article as a start up of an editorial team, who will augment the information. The team is explicitly instructed to NOT make this a marketing tool, and to NOT provide any commercial information, but ONLY technical, numeric and historical data about the brand. Suggestions for future contributors
[edit]This wikipedia article will see significant elaboration within the next weeks. A dedicated AkzoNobel team is appointed for this. They are knowledgeable in the non-commercial aspects of Wikipedia, and shall focus on technical data, numeric information, and historical data. Feel free to contribute in this line. For leads to the team, I can be contacted via my talk page. Wim van Dorst (talk) 20:13, 11 November 2011 (UTC).
- You are correct that the wrong tag was placed on the article. I've corrected that. However, it appears you have a direct conflict of interest and therefor should not be editing this article. You absolutely should not have a team of people from the company edit that article. If the company is notable enough to warrant an article, it should be created only from reliable sources and definitely not by the company's editorial team. - I'll rephrase, so that it is clear that a COI is not applicable. "A team of people will volunteer to contribute to Wikipedia. Several of the volunteers are experts in the field of marine coatings, working for world's largest paint producer AkzoNobe. They are dedicated to make a good bunch of articles about the company they (coincidentally) work and/or about the materials, technology, etc, they know about. They are experts in their field (let's say "The drying process of paint") and have expert resources to support their knowledge (e.g., the AkzoNobel paint books library, probably they have written the expert books). Thus, they can and will provide publicly accessible references to the data they provide to the articles. No, a CoI would be here if AkzoNobel would appoint editors to write about AkzoNobel. AkzoNobel didn't (they have other priorities). And I myself am not a paint expert or an historian, but just like to improve WP articles. Wim van Dorst (talk) 23:30, 11 November 2011 (UTC).
