Detroit Sleeper Cell
[edit]The base figured crucially in the Detroit Sleeper Cell case, and the narrator in a This American Life piece (clearly ignorant of the Turkish language) repeatedly mispronounced "Incirlik", whose C is supposed to sound like a J, as documented in Incirlik. I'm glad journalists find WP a useful tool, but it's a shame if a pro made a bit of a fool of herself by checking only this article (where i just added the information), and relied on the unreferenced information. (Huh. Sounds like at least one of her sources also mispronounced it.)

In Europe
[edit]"The base is one of six NATO sites in Europe which hold tactical nuclear weapons.[5]" Yet the base is in Asia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.128.188.180 (talk) 01:35, 20 February 2016 (UTC)

:During the mid 1950s, the base was used to stage alert B52s nearer their Soviet targets. Practice missions were performed without bomb loads. Returning bombers often were filled with rugs, furniture and pistachio nuts. Saltysailor (talk) 06:32, 1 March 2008 (UTC) from personal recollections |
