Inspired by Japanese TV?

[edit]

Was the original UK series inspired by similar series (featuring extreme challenges) on Japanese TV? Badagnani (talk) 05:38, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I never heard of this. Are you sure your not thinking about a show called MXC? Do you have any other information in regards to this? --Cooly123 (talk) 23:13, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Australian series

[edit]

Its time to add an australian series subsection, which is due to air later in 2010. Singer and former uk series 3 contestant Andre Peters is rumored to be among the contestants.--Cooly123 19:22, 3 July 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cooly123 (talkcontribs)

Only if some proof of its existence can be shown. I guess you mean Peter Andre. Jim Michael (talk) 17:26, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry - can the former section be restored

[edit]

Sorry if I did anything wrong, but there used to be a much longer section here - does any one know how to restore it?

Redundant listing of the winners

[edit]

This article starts with "This article is about the international reality television franchise." Why are the winners of the UK series listed, but the others are missing? The winners are listed in the UK article. As I rarly edit in the German Wikipedia, I won't botch up (thx to leo.org for this word) the English article. --07:51, 25 January 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.123.220.29 (talk)

Charity vs. Salary

[edit]

I was really pleasantly surprised to read that in the English version the celebrities only receive a compensation fee and name a charitable organisation to receive their salary instead. I like the idea, however it never made it to the German version of the show. Here the celebrities receive a very generous salary, which they keep for themselves. A number of them admits freely that they are only taking part in this because they are heavily indebted and in dire need of money.

Another thing is that the German participants for the most part, though all public persons of a sort, aren't really what you'd call a celebrity; typically the average viewer from the audience knows only two or three persons from the ten people team before they are all introduced by the show's hosts. These two factors, watching largely unknown artists with egos big enough to call themselves celebrities, and their sometimes blatantly obvious need for money or some kind of engagement, have prompted widespread criticism of the show and rooted it deeply in the cheap lower class sector of the German television landscape instead of becoming an evening entertainment show for the whole family.

I think this should somehow be mentioned, only I haven't quite an idea yet how to write it down positively. Seeing that there are seemingly differences between the original show and the licenced German version, I wonder how things are in other contries. The Dutch Wikipedia page and the Swedish Wikipedia page say the prize money of their respective shows goes to charity, and the Dutch page says the participants are all “less or better known”, hinting at the doubtful celebrity status of some of the campers. I don't find these aspects mentioned on the Indian page or the French page, and I don't know any Magyar to read what's on the Hungarian page.

Any ideas? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hendrik Sandvoss (talkcontribs) 20:14, 25 Jan 2011 (CET)

Space after the ellipsis

[edit]

Any reason why there isn't one, in the article title? The official ITV website at http://www.itv.com/imacelebrity/about/ include a space. --McGeddon (talk) 12:12, 26 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
