[edit]Whatever happened to the band? They were on the top of the world in the mid-9180s and then disappeared,from what I remembered. I also wonder if bands with more than 5 members have short shelf lives.
- Well, follow the links at the end of the entry and it is pretty easy to see what the band does these days. Yes, they are alive and kickin'.
Do we really need to state that the band was popular with baby boomers and yuppies? Can that be backed up? What is the source?
Spoof removed
[edit]This was in the history section:
"For a brief period in the summer of 1987 an 18 year old Carl Ringdahl-Berg filled in for 2 months of their world tour. He replaced Chris Hayes who had fallen ill and could not play the dates. Huey Lewis called Carl 'The best guitarist he had ever met.' He is also rumoured to have written 'If This Is It', a hit single of their album 'Sports'. He has now gone on to form The Intentions and continues to play stadiums throughout the world. He has recently embarked on a world tour with this band."
"Carl Ringdahl-Berg" does not Google. "Carl Erik Peter Ringdahl Berg" hits a MySpace page of a young man (apparently) who may be spoofing us or being spoofed by another, but who probably did not write "If This is It" when he may have been 13, since it is attributed to Colla and Lewis on the 1983 release of Sports. --Hjal 05:17, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
Band name
[edit]"And" v. "&"
[edit]The band's name is printed on the albums as "Huey Lewis And The News", not "Huey Lews & The News". Why is the article titled using the "&"? — Shinigami Kamenzi 12:57, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Live/Dead Indicator LIVE
The album covers actually vary in their style of the band's name. Some are title case, some are all upper case. Some use "and" and others use "&". They use both "the" and "THE", but not "The".
The album covers linked to from the article go like this:
- Huey Lewis & the News (album) Huey Lewis and the News
- Picture This (Huey Lewis and the News album) Huey Lewis AND THE NEWS (hard to read)
- Sports (album) HUEY LEWIS & THE NEWS
- Fore! HUEY LEWIS & THE NEWS (shot at my high school)
- Small World (album) Huey Lewis & the News
- Hard at Play Huey Lewis and the News
- Four Chords & Several Years Ago HUEY LEWIS & THE NEWS
- Time Flies... The Best of uses both [huey lewis & the news and HUEY LEWIS & THE NEWS
- Plan B (album) HUEY LEWIS & THE NEWS
- Live at 25 HUEY LEWIS AND THE NEWS
- Greatest Hits HUEY LEWIS & THE NEWS
But, the band's site uses "HUEY LEWIS & The News" for the banner (small caps for Huey's name and a capital "T"). In the text, they seem to use "Huey Lewis and the News" the most, or "HLN".--Hjal (talk) 07:46, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- I don't care about "and" or "&" as I've noticed they have used both on their album covers, although Sports and Fore! use "AND" (it's boxed and vertical) not "&". My comment on using "the" over "The" was just a wiki-pedia standardization question not a band use question. --Wolfer68 (talk) 17:19, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
For the record, there's absolutely no obligation on Wikipedia to use a capital T in the word "the" just because the band sometimes does — WP:MOS specifically states that we're not obligated to reflect purely stylistic differences, such as "the" vs. "The" or "&" vs. "and", if they conflict with Wikipedia's naming and grammar conventions. A capital T on the word "the" doesn't actually constitute a different name for the band than a lowercase t does — unless we have documented proof that they capitalized the t for a specific reason, it may even have been a simple writing error by somebody who didn't realize that the word the shouldn't have been capitalized. Tower of Power
[edit]I don't think the Tower of Power horn section should be considered members of the original band. They were featured on many of their albums and toured with them for a bit, sure, but they're Tower of Power not News.69.107.74.195 (talk) 08:48, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
No refs
[edit]Tagged for no refs, though there are a few at the very end. Also, no mention of Marin County, where this band actually came from and many, including Huey, still live? Jusdafax (talk) 12:01, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
Again with the references, three years later?!
[edit]I tagged the article, because although there were a handful of references listed, half were dead links, and really, the article needs a uniform use of CITE for refs, it's cleaner and provides more information, not to mention being easier to evaluate the article come time for possible GA evaluation. In addition, as a biographer, I can't see how ANYONE can rank an article with perhaps three references as a B-level piece. I changed it's status to Start level, and still believe that I was being generous, considering it's lack of support. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 10:26, 18 February 2012 (UTC)
OC?
[edit]What is "The band's lineup has changed significantly since its heyday. " from??
By the looks of the current lineup (4 founding members?!) I don't think it's even accurate to say it's changed "significantly."
Ben reforming Breaking Benjamin with three new members and no old members is "significant." replacing horn players over the course of 35 years, not so much — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.185.248.75 (talk) 18:03, 5 June 2015 (UTC)

Some remarks
[edit]- Why does Bearcat say that the band name on "Picture this" is hard to read?
- Their musical style are more heartland rock and "middle of the road" in my opinion;
- Is the year of 1972 the one of the arrival of Huey in Clover for sure? It's more commonly written 1976/7;
- As every text about this bad, their importance in musical history is under-developed(including the central place they had in Californian music world, being in contact with so much other artists of the area and leading a big musical organization made with Bob Brown through lots of companies around Hulex). patrick bateman is one of the few to relevate this specifity). And no mention about the fact they were awarded for being the biggest US album seller in 1984(among a lot of other missing things)...
- I'm happy to read the story regarding their withdraw of "USA for Africa" but more about their social consciousness would be valuable too;
- "Low-importance biography (musicians) articles": really??? Regarding a band that sold 30 millions of albums, competiting with Michael Jackson and others in the tops of the charts, defined a Californian sound, is heard in douzens of movies and TV episodes...
