[edit]Hello! Quick comment on the page:
- I think you should join this page with the HH List of Episodes from the 2009-2013 TV show, as it is a Series just like the other 5 and surely they should all go together, despite this series' slightly different format.
-The series is similar to the original's, with Rattus Rattus, HHTV News, Songs, original sketches, and original illustrations and era headings.
-Overall the Series is slightly different to the first 5, but I think it's still part of the show, and is a Series, so they should either all go together, or all have individual Series pages.
Just a thought.
- Hi there! First of all, let me thank you for taking this to the talkpage for discussion first. Really, very much appreciated.
- Second, the original series' article is actually Horrible Histories (2009 TV series). There was considerable discussion of this very point on its talkpage prior to this new series' debut--all of it still visible if you care to check it out--and the consensus among the editors most involved with that article was to treat the revived HH as a reboot. That is, as a separate entity within the same universe, sharing many of the same concepts but executing them noticeably differently. Think old-and-new Battlestar Galactica, for instance, or Dallas, both of which are split into separate articles according to original/revival.
- There were several reasons for this decision, the foremost one being, yes, the format change, which is actually pretty significant. As a corollary to that, old-and-new HH have very different creative teams. In particular, the producers of the revival are not the ones behind the original, a key writer (Larry Rickard) is missing, and of course the cast has been almost entirely revamped, leading to a recasting of most of the iconic characters and featuring a much heavier reliance on novelty guest stars. Thus, even if the original hadn't wrapped up with a very deliberate grand finale, this is still demonstrably not the same show.
- Finally, we also considered the logistical nightmare that would be integrating all of these duplicate sets into the original's article, which is already very delicately balanced between detailed and confusing. In keeping with which, existing precedent (in the form of Horrible Histories with Stephen Fry and Horrible Histories: Gory Games) is that alt-versions get their own article, which is in turn linked to the main article via a short overview.
- And so far, it seems to be working out splendidly. I do think that the question might be reopened once this series has finished airing and decisions have been taken re: whether or not it will be returning or whether these are one-off specials. But for now, the current solution appears to be the correct one. Thanks again, Shoebox2 talk 00:39, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
query
[edit]shouldn't someone rename this article to "Horrible Histories Specials"? After all, it is a series of specials. Besides, the series title card has the word "SPECIAL" in it... Visokor (talk) 12:22, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
I think this is different to 'specials', as in the title it does say 'Series 6 Episode -'. However, they are in a way one-off specials about each character, but I think special episodes are usually 'Ridiculous Romance', 'Outlandish Olympics and 'Wicked World' (Coming at the end of Series 6)
No, they are just serieses, not specials. Though the 2016 specials should have their own page... Oddster43 (talk) 07:43, 16 September 2017 (UTC)
Episodes
[edit]Horrible Histories Magazine have announced there will be 3 specials at the end of the Series: A songs special, a rulers special and a 'Wicked World' special. This could therefore mean that these episodes would be episodes 13, 14, and 15 like in the original series', which means there will be 12 character specials, as opposed to your list of 14 characters. Apparently there will be a hilarious cameo about Gandhi, possibly in Churchill's episode, but possible in Queen Vic's, as in that episode HH Mag said they'll be looking at her connections with India. As for William Wallace, I'm not too sure he will be starring as I haven't seen any news about him.
More news according to HH Mag:
- There will be a WWII and Tudor Bake Off.
-'Diary of a Winston Kid' will tell the story of Churchill's eraly years, and when he got shot at, and the bullet went through his hat.
-Boudicca will be singing 'Wreck Them All' — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.28.253.200 (talk) 06:24, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
Quick question-where do you get the info about the next episode before announced on iPlayer? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.28.253.200 (talk) 16:01, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
episode description notice
[edit]if anyone is out there, I am suggesting better descriptions for some of the sketches in each episode thus far. Visokor (talk)
Savage Specials
[edit]Firstly, there isn't going to be a Gandhi special! He will appear in Churchill's episode, and possibly Queen Victoria's, but I know for a fact he isn't having his own special. That' because, as Horrible Histories Magazine has told me, Episode 13 will be the usual Savage Songs special, followed by Episode 14: Rotten/Ruthless Rulers, and then lastly, the series finale: Wicked World! If you can't be to sure about these facts, then at least put them down with a 'possibly' next to them, but I'm pretty sure HH Mag wouldn't make a mistake in saying that.
Also, as one of the behind the scenes sketches o YouTube told us, Queen Victoria will be singing in a Bollywood syle, probably about her reign over India. Also, on the opening credits to Histories Craziest Fools we see a man who looks just like King Charles I holding his chopped of head, obviously assuming he will be in Cruel Cromwell's episode. Plus, check out this link-http://www.studio43.tv/projects/horrible-histores-series-6/-could this mean there will be animation about the Civil War, also in Cromwell's episode? Just a head's up!
Also, one final thing: There won't be a William Wallace episode-I don't know ehere you got that from, but no websites have said so. Boudicca's episode 9, then there's 4=3 more which take us up to episode 12, then 3 specials which take us up to 15, the usual amount for a series! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.28.253.200 (talk) 06:45, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
Savage Songs
[edit]Instead of calling it 'Crafty Cleopatra Song' I think it should be called after it's name. i.e.
S06E01: Magna Carta 800 Years Song
S06E02: I'm out of Town (Official name-in HH Mag)
S06E03: Norman Style
S06E04: Mary's Rhapsody (Official name-in HH Mag) S06E05: Napoleon Bonaparte (Named after the background music in the chorus, as it repeats his name)
S06E06: A Little More Reformation (Official name-in HH Mag)
S06E07: I Can't Go On!
S06E08: Court Life (Official name-in HH Mag)
S06E09: Wreck 'Em All (Official name-in HH Mag)
S06E10: Your Finest Hour
S06E11: Empress of India
S06E12: The Cruel Necessity
Also, under 'Savage Songs Special', like on the 2009-2013 page state the episode it's from. You should do this with the sketches in the other two specials (except for the new catwalk sketch in E14) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.28.253.200 (talk) 16:10, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
"Horrible Histories" or "Horrible Histories Specials"?
[edit]I still think this should be called "Horrible Histories Specials". I mean, "Special" is in the opening title card, so there. Visokor (talk) 16:58, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
- I'm not arguing, but someone pointed out above that this series of 'specials' has its own set of 'specials' coming afterwards, in the manner of the original series. In short, great confusion still reigns as to what the producers/CBBC consider is going on here, hopefully after the series is over we'll get a bit more clarity. :) Shoebox2 talk 00:58, 6 August 2015 (UTC)
- I think it should remain as 'Horrible Histories' or 'Horrible Histories Series 6', as on iPlayer, before watching each episode it states it's episode title, which is:

- Horrible Histories
- Series 6: 2. Awesome Alfred the Great
- It still remains as a 'Horrible Histories' episode and nothing more, and underneath says 'Series 6' followed by the episode number. That's the official episode name by the BBC, then 'Awesome Alfred the Great' is the episodes name, which is added on to allow viewers what the episode's about. Of course if everyone knew what episode is which, then we'd just call them 'Horrible Histories Series 6: 2.' just like we would for any other HH series. Plus, it remains a similar style, with similar sketches, and is just like the original 5 Series' but with a slight twist and cast change.
- As for the word 'Special' on the opening title I don't think they should put that until episodes 13, 14 and 15, as it doesn't fit in the fact Series 6 is just like any other. They new producers probably put it there to inform not the episode is a 'Special', but it is special, the fact we look at just on historical figure. I still think this page should join on with other pages. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.28.253.200 (talk) 07:30, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
- It's awkward that the title card has Horrible Histories Special for sure but the series simply isn't called Horrible Histories Specials (Rattus even calls it Horrible Histories series six in the last episode's credits). I understand the need for two pages to adjust for the new cast/format and avoid having to completely overhaul the featured article; however, the way this site presents it makes it look like there are two separate live-action sketch-shows which is inaccurate. It's simply not a reboot. 82.37.50.190 (talk) 18:32, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
- The only thing I'd suggest doing is asking the BBC directly whether it is called "Horrible Histories Specials" or not. Visokor (talk) 09:39, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
There is a new series alredy, they are just episodes, not soecial though... Oddster43 (talk) 07:40, 16 September 2017 (UTC)
Page Problems
[edit]Someone has changed this page and some of your sketches and actors are incorrect.
New HH 2016
[edit]More information about the first of the three new specials. The first is called 'Sensational Shakespeare' starring Tom Stourton. More info here with sources:https://horriblehistoriestv.wordpress.com/2016/01/23/new-hh-2016-sensational-shakespeare-starring-stourton/
Also, are the three new episodes part of Series 6 or a new 7th Series? It features the new cast, but traditionally there are just 13-15 episodes in a Series, all in the same year/grouped together.
image request
[edit]I think the current image should be replaced with the latest logo, which has the current CBBC logo beneath the HH logo. Visokor (talk) 11:49, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
In that case we should use a mixture of both which was used for the 2016 Specials, where it features just the HH logo. https://horriblehistoriestv.files.wordpress.com/2016/04/horrible-histories-series-7-opening-credits35.png — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.163.203.205 (talk) 09:03, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
song parody queries
[edit]Does anyone know the song parodies for the Crafty Cleopatra song and for the Atrocious Artists song (What I put for the latter, Hello It's Me, might be wrong)? Also, on an unrelated note, is it possible to reword some sketch descriptions? Visokor (talk) 09:16, 25 August 2017 (UTC)
Hi, try asking on Twitter @greg_jenner @bunfork @joshgrant87 @Manofminitalent @davidstaite43 about songs For descriptions have a look here: http://horriblehistoriestv.wixsite.com/horriblehistoriestv/series-7-episode-4 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.14.76.75 (talk) 18:06, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
Historical Desktops
[edit]RE: Visokor and S07E08, Abraham Lincoln's online chat
Hi, Historical Desktops are the sketches that (in the 2009 series) saw figures on their computers (and now) on their tablets. We watch them work, go online and ring/chat friends. They all have a similar layout so we can tell them apart; often showing contact lists, having a similar layout as the tech has and having, hence the name, a desktop screen.
This just seems to be a chat station online, a bit like Mart Queen of Scots in Series 6, but this is without any names or clue as to a title. If it's okay, I will remove the categorisation of it as a HD sketch.
Horrible Histories Series Seven, 2017
[edit]Who knows loads about the new series? Oddster43 (talk) 07:39, 16 September 2017 (UTC)
I should be able to help, what's up? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.14.76.75 (talk) 15:52, 20 September 2017 (UTC)
Was gonna say; where IS the info for Revolting Russian Revolution and Horrid Health? Visokor (talk) 12:21, 22 September 2017 (UTC)
James V
[edit]The article, until just now, listed Adam Riches as playing James V of England in Series 6. I've removed this as there has never been a James V of England. If anyone knows which king Riches did play in Series 6 (James V of Scotland? James I?), please add it! Lennart97 (talk) 09:00, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
Merge?
[edit]I agree that this article should be merged into Horrible Histories (2009 TV series). It's the same show despite the format/cast changes. -- Ssilvers (talk) 08:27, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
