Move?
[edit]Shouldn't this be History of East Pakistan (1947-1971) or even just merged with East Pakistan ? - TheMightyQuill (talk) 16:36, 19 December 2010 (UTC)
I second this. It should be considered the history of East Pakistan. It would definitely be history through the eyes of East Pakistan's majority population, i.e Bangladeshis, but for accuracy's sake this would have to be considered "The History of East Pakistan". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.236.50.183 (talk) 21:20, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
- I agree. This article should be named History of East Pakistan since Bangladesh did not exist between 1947 and 1971, and this was the official name of the region. I am going to move the article name now. Mar4d (talk) 14:59, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Removed stale POV tag with no active discussion per Template:POV
[edit]An old neutrality tag that appears to have no active discussion has been removed from this page per the instructions at Template:POV:
- This template is not meant to be a permanent resident on any article. Remove this template whenever any one of the following is true:
- There is consensus on the talkpage or the NPOV Noticeboard that the issue has been resolved
- It is not clear what the neutrality issue is, and no satisfactory explanation has been given
- In the absence of any discussion, or if the discussion has become dormant
At this time there is no obvious overarching NPOV problem, and no evidence of ongoing discussion of neutrality, so I've removed the tag for now. If discussion is continuing and I've failed to see it, please feel free to restore the template and continue to address the issues. Thanks to everybody working on this one! History of East Pakistan → History of Bangladesh (1947–1971) – this will be more accurate name cause East Pakistan just came to exist in 1955. Prior to this, it was East Bengal. The name itself don't appears to be universal for this history related article. Requested title would more relevant cause it's basically a part of the history of Bangladesh. Ahammed Saad (talk) 12:43, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
- Disagree. It the last and current name of the previous entity that matters. East Pakistan and East Bengal is actually the same thing. Before 1955, people also used the name "East Pakistan" to indicate the province of East Bengal, including poet Iqbal. So the name is actually universal.
