Pronunciation
[edit]I question whether "Hindoo" should be considered an archaism as attested hereto. Should it not, rather, be said to be lesser used? "Hindoo" is pronounced with the "oo" sound of "tool" and "school," while the en vogue spelling of "Hindu" is correctly pronounced with the "u" sound of "fuel" and "mule." I certainly hear more of the former than the latter in every-day speech. 67.101.243.74 01:47, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
- I agree, it's just like saree, sari; sheeva, shiva, siva--a more literal Romanization. 156.34.228.223 (talk) 01:01, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
Where is the discussion here preceding the AfD
[edit]Where is the discussion here which normally precedes an AfD? Where is the announcement in India-related pages such as WT:INDIA? It seems some clueless Wikipedians decided to delete this page in a conversation limited to hurried edit summaries on the Hindoo page at a time of year when no one is watching. I am restoring the page. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 10:33, 6 January 2017 (UTC)
