Photograph of HDH

Are you sure the photograph of H.discus hannai is actually HDH. It looks like it is a red abalone from california. The coloration looks like the animal was collected from the wild when it was small, then fed on macrocystis kelp and finally returned to the wild. Did you collect the animal from the wild in Japan? The shell morphology does not look like HDH. Where did you get the shell? ISTCC (talk) 08:24, 6 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Me again. I looked at the photograph again. It is clearly an abalone that has been planted in the ocean and was tagged. You can see the white bonding material used to attach the tag. I am sure this is a red abalone from california. ISTCC (talk) 08:27, 6 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
