To do
[edit]Just a few ideas —ExplorerCDT 21:51, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
- Better referencing name origins.
- Add Information about the Greengage plum tree, leaves, seeds, etc.
- Add Information about current cultivation and production
- Expand information about historical cultivation and production.
- Expansion on information about desserts, wine, brandy, jams and preserves.
- References in Popular culture, Literature, Arts, etc. including A Greengage Summer (1961)
- Another picture or two as the article grows...greengage orchards? a cut greengage? wine? etc.?
Mesnenor (talk) 21:59, 1 February 2010 (UTC) On the Name origins question: I just added a link to the relevant Persian language page. The Persian word for a greengage is "gojeh". Given that they are originally from the near east, and that the Persian name is so similar to the English name, the story about the name deriving from an English family name seems suspiciously like a folk etymology.
- @Mesnenor these are called Reine Claude, after the wife of François 1e, as a present from Suliman the magnificent. This needs added. Jamesks (talk) 17:25, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
