The Grecian bend was a posture...
[edit]..or so I thought; Women strongly arched their backs, sticking out their chests and bottoms. It seems to be returning to fashion, if some advertisements for women's clothing is an indication.
Years ago, I knew a man from Irish Boston who sang that song, "The garden Where the Praties (potatoes) Grow," in a lovely lilting tenor. Listen to John McCormack sing it on YouTube. [1] The girl of the song had such a lovely figure that she was stunning even standing up perfectly straight. She needed no beauty aids at all, not even a chignon. As far as I can tell, Johnny Patterson (1840-1899) wrote the music, but not the lyrics. [2] Palema (talk) 22:46, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
