Abandonement of Giraavaru Island
[edit]On the Giraavaru (Kaafu Atoll) article the reason of depopulation of island is reported to be "due to heavy erosion and reduction of the community to a few members", but here on this article, something another is claimed: "they were forced to abandon their island under an Islamic regulation that did not recognise communities with less than 40 adult males". So which one is right? Erosion, Islamic regulation, or both? Vidimian (talk) 20:39, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
- probably both, we should have all relevant information, please add it as well. Kanatonian (talk) 17:45, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
- OK. Erosion added, in addition to the Islamic regulation. Vidimian (talk) 16:04, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
Origins
[edit]The article says Giraavaru people are decedents of tamils from Malabar cost. The people malabar cost are malayalis. Its not linguistic identity rather regional identity. If we say tamil then it become linguistic identity The language spoken in malabasr cost is not tamil though its a similar language now known as Malayalam. The reference correctly identifies that the people malayali people still article wrongly given as tamil
