I see this article has been proposed for deletion. This is a frivolous action. Go to this category and you will find twelve articles. Three other articles are specifically dedicated to individual games--specific moments--within individual games, for that matter. No one has deleted them. The parent category has six more articles devoted to individual baseball games. No one has deleted them either. Vidor (talk) 05:00, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
And I might further add that if one is not allowed to create articles about individual baseball games, the categories "World Series games" and "Major League Baseball games" should be deleted. Vidor (talk) 05:06, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
- This one is a tough call. I saw that Game six by itself redirects to the 1986 World Series, which is rather silly given how famous Game 6 of the 1975 World Series was. I'm considering turning it into a disambiguation page. And I should point out that there are not separate articles for those famous Game sixes - the information is embedded in the Series pages. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 05:33, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
- I did not undertake nominating this article lightly, for as I said on the AfD page, this is a good faith effort that did take some work on your part, and I recognize that. However, this article reads like a game recap to me, and I don't believe it needs its own article. I'm also questioning Kirk Gibson's 1988 World Series home run, but at least that has received significant recognition as a notable event independent of the World Series it was played in. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:14, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
I fail to understand how Kirk Gibson's home run has any significance outside of the 1988 World Series. Or how the article on Sandy Koufax's perfect game has significance beyond the perfect game article. Or why there are categories for individual games if we aren't allowed to populate them. - Sources like this indicate the notability of Gibson's home run independent of the 1988 World Series. Perfect games have been decided by project consensus through multiple AfD's to deserve their own articles. Individual games can be notable, but most aren't. Notability needs to be established. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:34, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
Well, Muboshgu won. His contention above that Kirk Gibson's home run is more notable is patently absurd, but he won. I suggest that his action of November 2011 in which he deleted material recounting this game in the 2011 World Series page is proof of bad faith. I suggest all interested parties watch the page and see whether, after claiming on the AfD page that the solution was to expand the Game 6 subsection of that page, he actually deletes material on that page as he did in November of last year.
