Conor McGregor
[edit]Conor McGregor, while attending Irish medium schools, has little to do with them other than that. He can't speak Irish these days and has been caught on the hop by the fact during interviews. It doesn't bring anything to the article to have him listed. I'd say the same for Dara Ó Briain, but at least he still speaks Irish and has hosted shows through it.
I'd like to purpose the remove the picture as it's given way to much prominence and refactoring it as a list of notable people who attended Gaelcholáistí instead. Darrendirl (talk) 18:01, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose No reasonable argument. His attendance of the Irish-speaking schools is properly source in the article about McGregor. The Banner talk 18:07, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
- I don't understand your point. His attendance at a Gaelcholáiste has nothing to do with Gaelcholáistí in of themselves and I don't argue his attendance of one should be removed from the McGregor article.
- I argue it adds nothing to this article having a headshot of him and Dara Ó Briain (or anyone else for that matter). It is, to be blunt, superfluous fluff. If the goal is to highlight notable people who attended a Gaelcholáiste, then it should be done in a list of "notable people who attended Gaelcholáistí" aligning to how it's done for other articles. Darrendirl (talk) 15:59, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- So you agree that he attended Gaelcholáiste? If yes, why would you remove his picture? The Banner talk 16:51, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- Support - It makes no more sense to have photos of two people who happen to have attended Gaelcholáistí at the top of this article than it does to have photos of well known people who shop at Dunnes Stores at the top of that article. As things stand, when you type Gaelcholáiste into the search bar, you get a photo of Conor McGregor. It gives the impression that he has something to do with the running of Gaelcholáistí, which he doesn't. Gatepainter (talk) 13:13, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
- Very well put. Eastirleditor (talk) 11:02, 19 December 2023 (UTC)
I never stated he didn't. I've explained it. Twice. Why are you opposed to consolidation of the pictures into a "list of notable alumni"? Darrendirl (talk) 11:22, 7 July 2021 (UTC)
- You have explained twice that you want the photos removed, that is clear. But the target article does not exist, as far as I know. The Banner talk 12:15, 7 July 2021 (UTC)
