Accuracy

[edit]

According to the German WP, Gauleiter Paul Giesler, der am Tag darauf zum Nachfolger Himmlers im Amt des Reichsinnenministers ernannt wurde, schlug nach wenigen Stunden mit Hilfe von SS-Einheiten den Aufstand der Freiheitsaktion nieder. Doesn't sound like a "Bavarian Victory" to me. The Historical Lexicon of Bavaria has a similarly negative take. Srnec (talk) 00:48, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The site says it was a military failure, which is true.
But it accelerated the collapse of the Nazi regime in Munich and prevented the complete destruction of Munich. It made it easier for US troops to liberate the city. The goal was to free the city from nazism, which in the end succeeded. AstroSaturn (talk) 12:45, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Is that your opinion, or do you have a reliable source that says so? Srnec (talk) 14:36, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
-Das wichtigste gemeinsame Ziel war, die aussichtslosen Kämpfe gegen die vorrückenden Amerikaner zu beenden. (The main goal was to end the battles against the Americans)
-Ziele
(As Rupprecht Gerngross announced after taking over a radio station in Ismaning, the freedom campaign had the following goals:
1.End of militarism and National Socialism,
2. Building a welfare state,
3. Gradual reintroduction of freedom of the press and freedom of assembly.) AstroSaturn (talk) 15:44, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Goals are not results. Srnec (talk) 01:36, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Well as I said, it resulted in a faster collapse of the Nazi regime and prevented Munich from being completely destroyed. Sources are right here. AstroSaturn (talk) 10:37, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
