Francis Williams (poet)Francis Williams (18th century) – "Poet" is clearly not the best way to describe this person. In his lifetime he would have been called a gentleman, which I think is anachronistic for Wikipedia. His main job was a plantation master but this is not what he is known for. His most notable contribution is to astronomy (see Halley's Comet), but he was not a career astronomer. He also made minor contributions to poetry and to local education in Jamaica.
