Notability tag
[edit]@Ibadibam: I found many relevant search results about the Fragile States Index. Can you explain why you added the {{notability}} tag to this article in November 2014? Jarble (talk) 15:28, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
- I was basing it not so much on the relevance of search results, but the reliability thereof, and the significance of coverage therein, per WP:GNG. It's not so much that it's indisputably non-notable (as I would have nominated it for deletion in that case), but that there's some question that I would hope would be resolved by someone finding good sources and adding them to the article. Revisiting the topic, I do find a few somewhat useful links...
- "Is ranking failed or fragile states a futile business?", editorial blogpost from the Washington Post - not a reliable source per se, but still significant coverage
- "The Fatally Flawed Fragile States Index", editorial from The National Interest, more or less the same level of source
- "‘Fragile States Index 2014’: Is the world getting any better?", The Daily Sabah – another editorial blog
- "What’s in a Name? States of Fragility and Adjusting Aid to Conflict Zones", New Security Beat – fairly reliable, but only passing mention as the article focuses on an OECD report that used the FSI as a soure
- If you can contribute sources in addition to those above, please do so! Interestingly, the FSI appears to be more notable for the criticism it has attracted, rather than the data itself. That said, most of this attention given to the FSI is about the actual geopolitical factors that it reports, rather than the Index itself. Even so, I think it meets the minimum threshold to establish a presumption of notability. Ordinarily I'd suggest merging an article like this back into its parent article, but as this is a joint collaboration, it's probably better standing alone. Ibadibam (talk) 23:21, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
