[edit]Can't somebod write something about the whole religion feud that is going on? With the band and the general public.
I would, but I am too lazy/.
In short, conservative Afrikaner culture is traditionally very religious (Afrikaners as the Chosen people etc...). FPK (A bunch of young Afrikaners themselves) have jousted at this religious conservatisme and reaped the backlash from the community. Many lyrics lament against the "old" ways and teachings whilst complaining about the "current" f*&'ed up state of affairs in SA. They speak for a youth which resents their elders (and their twisted regime) whilst being totally ignored and left behind by the new (ANC) country, a true generation X.
The biggest issue for them, and a lot of other Afrikaner youth, was the fact that religion controlled such a big part of their lives. Before 1994 the church fully supported the apartheid regime, and directly after the the elections, the church fully supported the "New South Africa" and everything that went with it. It literally changed it's song from one Sunday to the next, and the realization was that the adults, and the church, actually DID NOT have all the answers as they always claimed. They were just sheep themselves, being regulated by the government of the day. This is the root of the whole anti-religion sentiments comes from. It's not aimed towards God, but at the people who abused and institutionalized religion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.133.135.48 (talk) 14:47, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
well said.
the page is starting to look great! i recently uploaded the photos for the album covers from the rhythm records website ([1]). Can somebody check to see if the copyright information for the images are correct though? I'm fairly new to wikipedia and not completely familiar with all its features. Also, since we already have so much information on this page, I think we can minimize the intro, and put all the information in it in mulitple paragraphs. Furthermore, can everybody just go through the pages of the album and see if the information is correct and/or add more information in its sidebars? Also, if i haven't already done it at the time when you are reading this, I think we should add some music samples to the main page. Thanks en lekker werk!
Line in Controversy section
[edit]"this is unlike any other video in south africa which is mainly used for marketing theirs is for the message they send."
This clause is rather incomprehensible. I am not sure what the intended message is and so I am hesitant to correct it. Is it possible that the person who wrote it can clean it up?

[edit]Howzit you lekker lucky people! Does anybody know when Fokof will be playing in the Gauteng region again? I bought their new album a couple of weeks back and I'm curious to hear what it sounds like live! Saw them at Oppiaarde in Potch in October 2006 but didn't know the new songs back then. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 41.242.97.168 (talk) 10:05, 16 February 2007 (UTC).
Fair use rationale for Image:Fokofpolisiekar.jpg
[edit]Image:Fokofpolisiekar.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 09:31, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

The Get Up Kids
[edit]I think that the information about Fokof having a sound similiar to 'The Get Up Kids' should be removed. There may be some similar sounds here and there throughout a few of the songs, such as some of the guitar riffs. But it is definitely not similar in its overall style.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Markparker22 (talk • contribs) 07:24, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
