Adopted in the Kurdish Region

@Chipmunkdavis and NorthTension: The Flag of the Syrian opposition is adopted as the new flag of the Rojava Kurdish region as per: aanes-adopts-flag-of-syrian-revolution/ in December 2024 Erledigungs (talk) 13:47, 12 December 2024 (UTC)

We have to be careful here, the exact announcement from their Facebook is "The Democratic Peoples' Council decided to raise the Syrian flag on all councils, institutions, administrations and facilities affiliated with the Autonomous Administration in all the region's districts."
They have decided to raise the flag. But it is unclear whether that means they adopt the flag. NYT reporter Euan Ward took it to mean "a largely symbolic move that affirmed “Syria’s unity and national identity,”:

I recommend we wait and see before adding it, just to make sure. Quick-ease2020 (talk) 19:28, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
Firstly, that's semantics of the highest order, the government of Rojava has explicitly reiterated that they are part of Syria and they have ordered the independence flag to be flown from all government buildings under their control
On the occasion of the Syrians' liberation from the regime of oppression and tyranny that has weighed on their chests for more than half a century, during which they have tasted all kinds of injustice, humiliation, exclusion and marginalization, and because the Syrians are the ones who ultimately won and overthrew the regime, and since the symbol of the stage is the independence flag represented by the three colors green, white and black with three stars in red, and since the areas of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria is an integral part of the territory of Syria, and its residents are from the ancient and authentic Syrian components, the Democratic People's Council has decided to raise the Syrian flag on all councils, institutions, administrations and facilities in all the districts of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria. - The Democratic People's Council in the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, December 12 2024 Thegunkid (talk) 07:29, 13 December 2024 (UTC)

new flag

newwww flag in syria 41.104.166.155 (talk) 16:33, 12 December 2024 (UTC)

It's an old flag, used from the 1930s through 1958, and again from 1961 to 1963. Do you have a suggestion how to improve the article? AnonMoos (talk) 20:54, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
I think that adding the new Syrian flag - using new here as the status of this flag currently since you like to point it out that it is the old one lol - should make this article a valid article. A de facto status would be a good unbiased compromise but I think that Syria's flag - according to every single outlet we see and the transitional government and institutions in Syria - are using this flag besides the people who are united behind it. I don't understand why English Wikipedia always likes complicating things and causing controversy. 2600:1700:6E1:7670:21F2:7613:FCA3:DC93 (talk) 02:48, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
The three-star flag seems to be the de facto flag of Syria. I could support Wikipedia recognising that reality, the source being many pictures of the new flag being flow in seeming-official and in unofficial places. (But my preference is to italicise de facto.) JDAWiseman (talk) 11:28, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
