I think the present article is quite wrong.
Financier denotes that somebody gives money.
It does not denote or connote whom or what he will get for this.
To write he will do that for a living is totally baseless.
The one who is clearly interested in the return on investment is the Investor.
Financier is not a profession, rather a passion.
Maybe he invests in an unknown painter and is happy if the painter survives or even gets known.
This is near to Sponsor.
So the financier stands undecided and undefined in between Sponsor and Investor.
This article over-defines Financier.
