History
[edit]I just added a link to the Chladni page, which discusses what I think is the same phenomenon, and itself includes a back-reference here. Anyone object if I add a paragraph about Chladni patterns? They appear to precede Faraday's discovery by a century and were widely known across Europe, with Napoleon offering a prize for any mathematical solution.
