FC Barcelona 2–8 FC Bayern Munich → Barcelona 2–8 Bayern Munich – As per precedents, "Barcelona" is usually in favour of "FC Barcelona" in match titles, e.g. in Barcelona 6–1 Paris Saint-Germain, and similarly with "Bayern Munich" instead of "FC Bayern Munich", e.g. in Bayern Munich 1–2 Norwich City (1993). - Oppose - the correct naming convention AFAIK is to use the article of the name and the year, see e.g. Chelsea F.C. 2–4 Bradford City A.F.C. (2015). As such, I would suggest this is left where it is, or possibly moved to FC Barcelona 2–8 FC Bayern Munich (2020), though in cases like this I don't necessarily think the year is needed. Losing the 'FC' means it could refer to anything, a flight code or a train code or whatever. Having the 'FC' makes it clear it's a football match. GiantSnowman 16:31, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose - I actually think the Barcelona 6–1 Paris Saint-Germain article should be moved to FC Barcelona 6–1 Paris Saint-Germain F.C. Same for FC Bayern Munich 1–2 Norwich City F.C. (1993). – PeeJay 19:55, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose The official team names have FC in them (as is the case with the example) and so this article is in the correct place while the "example" should be moved. Walter Görlitz (talk) 06:41, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
- Comment. I don't know, but many of the match articles seem to omit the "FC" or whatever in front, and it may be because of WP:COMMONNAME. But whatever, if as some of you said that the existing articles should be moved then this issue might be raised at WP:WikiProject Football. Eumat114 (Message) 11:04, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose Per above. REDMAN 2019 (talk)
Why is the 4-1 result in 2024 considered irrelevant?
[edit]In the article about the 6-1 Barcelona vs. PSG game, the 2024 meeting is mentioned even though it is "not" considered very relevant. So why are the games between Bayern and Barcelona in the following two seasons considered relevant, but the most recent one (where Barcelona finally won) is deemed "not relevant"? Especially since it is noted that Hansi Flick was appointed as Barcelona's manager. I believe the fact that he defeated his former team 4-1 (and let's not forget Lewandowski's contribution) is worth mentioning. If not, then the other Bayern wins should also be removed for consistency. 2A02:14F:175:A6BC:0:0:4DEA:7D6E (talk) 13:59, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
