Article title
[edit]Should the article not be called English cricket team in Bangladesh in 2016 instead of 2016-17? The tour doesn't actually breach 2017. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Linkiscool99 (talk • contribs) 18:07, 24 September 2016 (UTC)
- Even though it doesn't have a fixture in the year of 2017, it's part of the International cricket in 2016–17 season. This can be seen at both the major sources (amongst others) [1] and [2]. It's also covered at WP:CRIC#STYLE. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 18:15, 24 September 2016 (UTC)
Noteable occurances
[edit]Rather than get into an edit war, I think there should be a limit to the performances noted at the end of the score.
1st Bangladeshi to score over 50 at 7 in 4th innings on debut requires 4 different clauses to make it noteworthy. We could probably find many equally obscure records in any given game. While that would be fine in a press report on one day of the the match, I don't think it is necessary in a summary of the match on here. (Just to show I'm not biased!) I'd also edit down the spiel about Bairstow's many records in this game Spike 'em (talk) 17:24, 24 October 2016 (UTC)
- I was thinking the same thing. I've never seen such a ridiculously over-long list of stats at the foot of a match summary. However, there weren't many that I thought "yeah, that can definitely go!" – PeeJay 17:34, 24 October 2016 (UTC)
- Delete the 50 at 7 clause, but rest seem okay. After the series if someone writes prose about the series, the prose can incorporate the records, which would be better. Joseph2302 17:46, 24 October 2016 (UTC)
- I've condensed a couple of them together. I try to include only the really notable stuff, not the 50 at 7 cruft type ones, and try to ballance it out across the two teams, where possible. Lugnuts Precious bodily fluids 18:09, 24 October 2016 (UTC)
- I think you're showing your bias in your spelling there! I would also suggest that the references used are match reports rather than stats pages on cricinfo. These will inevitably change, so won't support "first person to do x" type figures, and more importantly comes across as OR. Spike 'em (talk) 07:56, 25 October 2016 (UTC)
- Haha, well spotted! Yes, not a big fan of those active query type links. I usually update them with the match report links if I spot any. And at least all of this is sourced, which can't be bad! Lugnuts Precious bodily fluids 08:15, 25 October 2016 (UTC)
