Most populous city
[edit]In the emirates chart, Abu Dhabi is listed as the most populous city in UAE, but on the Dubai page and the Abu Dhabi page they both state that Dubai is the largest. Can someone please verify and correct. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.68.45.184 (talk) 23:17, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
- Dubai (city) is the most populous city, and is coterminous with the Emirate of Dubai. The Emirate of Abu Dhabi is the most populous emirate, and consists of many cities including Abu Dhabi (city). 62.64.152.154 (talk) 00:43, 30 June 2016 (UTC)
Disambiguating UAE emirates and capitals
[edit]At several of the talk pages for the individual Emirates of the UAE, queries or proposals have been put forth for having separate articles for the emirates and their eponymous capitals (e.g. here and here. As of now, two of the emirates have been disambiguated from their capitals: Abu Dhabi (emirate) / Abu Dhabi and Ajmān / Ajmān (city). If you are interested in discussing a comprehensive approach to the issue, please see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Western Asia#Disambiguating UAE emirates and capitals. — AjaxSmack 19:35, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Order of emirates
[edit]Previously, the emirates were listed in alphabetical order (Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain). User:NoPity2 recenty changed the order. No reason or justification was provided for this change (which at first appeared to be an arbitrary reordering), so I reverted it. After NoPity2 changed it back (again without a reason), I noticed the order was the same as the order of the emirates from west to east (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah).
I disagree with this order and would like to revert it back, but I do not want to start an edit war. I personally think alphabetical order is the best because it is the simplest way to find the information and the most common way for ordering such information. Ordering information by geographic position is very uncustomary and will be hard for people to understand at first glance (like happened with me). - I agree, i just though it will be more organized. I fully apologize for what iv done and I fully agree for you to change them back if you had to. I first thought that when i first changed them i forgot to save the page and thought to changed them back, didn't know you were the one who reverted my work. I'm sorry and i am 100% with you. NoPity2 10:21, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- Okay. Thanks for reading my comments. I just changed it back. Thanks. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 18:55, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
Combine into UAE article?
[edit]It seems unnecessary for this article to be stand alone and makes more sense to be included directly in the UAE article. Any general discussion of the political divisions of a country should just be included in the article for the country. Thoughts? --Mistakefinder (talk) 20:37, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
- Definitely. — Hex (❝?!❞) 03:43, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
Population statistics
[edit]If I'm reading this and this right, aren't the population statistics on this page for Dubai and Abu Dhabi likely reversed? --The Dark Ride (talk) 05:47, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
