Room for improvement

One ref (on only one corner of the topic), wobbly text, no images, no links to main articles, hardly any wikilinks: room for improvement. The parent article, Microbes in human culture, contains much 'starter' material and many links. I'll do a basic reorg and then we can start to rebuild.
