You should add a line to the "Marketing and Background" section adding that Kanye's record label, Def Jam, announced the album on twitter and officially confirmed the release date to be July 23, 2021. Currently, there is no album artwork shown for the album Donda, only the original artwork. This change would add the new album art for Donda where it is normally shown, the new album artwork for this Wikipedia page is shown in the file. Sean Muller (talk) 20:27, 21 July 2021 (UTC)

Not done: that artwork is not confirmed to be the Donda artwork, so it should not be added. DđŸ¶ggy54321 (let's chat!) 13:25, 23 July 2021 (UTC)

Already done in #Background and marketing. On July 19, 2021, Pusha T announced on Instagram that West would be holding a listening event for the album on July 22 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.[13] DđŸ¶ggy54321 (let's chat!) 21:25, 23 July 2021 (UTC)

There is speculative and border-line incorrect information on this page that must be corrected or further looked into. Specifically the date of release being August 7th. Not only is this date in the future, but it is not the official confirmation. This date as I have understood changed constantly the past week because of how speculative it is. The date should be left ambiguous, just as it is currently, and the release date should be given when the album has truly been released. Multiple people over the past few days may have seen August 5th, August 6th, July 23rd, July 24th, and now August 7th. There is no confirmed date yet and it is wrong to give the speculative information. Charles McHicks (talk) 00:35, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

Not done: It is currently sourced, and appears to be the currently release date. It could change, and if it does we can update. Thanks. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 00:44, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

Cyanied (talk) 08:26, 11 August 2021 (UTC) Kanye West's ninth studio album, Donda, is set to be released later this year. It is named for Donda West, West's late mother. Unfortunately, he did not release the record, and fans patiently were waiting for the album to drop.

Change the release date to "TBA", as we don't know when the album will be released, and the apple music date is simply a placeholder. 110.141.17.1 (talk) 12:01, 28 August 2021 (UTC)

Done , after looking for sources about this, the latest I can find so far is The Rolling Stone. Look at the last paragraph titled "Official Release" for the update - it looks like they haven't been able to confirm the date yet, a claim echoed in a few other recent updates elsewhere as well. I'll agree that the apple music page alone is a bit speculative. ASUKITE 21:48, 28 August 2021 (UTC)

Importance

Do you think this article is of low or mid importance, since it is the first ever collab between this two mega star rappers? --Kyle Peake (talk) 11:22, 9 February 2020 (UTC)

@Kyle Peake: I've been busy trying to promote some of my own articles to GA status at the moment, but I'll let you know if I get the time. Thanks for helping out on the JIK article by the way! We should maybe discuss soon on how to put in the final preparations to get it to GA status and maybe we could co-nominate it? Just let me know on my talk page. Release Date

August 29, 2021 Davidhdillon (talk)

Recorded date

Currently it says this album was recorded from November 2018-July 2020. Kanye first posted himself in the studio with Dre working on JIK II in November of 2019 which would be the start of this album cycle, but if you meant to have it include the recording sessions for Yandhi since there's supposed to be Yandhi tracks on here it should say August 2018 since that's when that album was first started and songs like Hurricane were first recorded. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alliamisadeadreflection (talk ‱ contribs) 21:11, 3 August 2020 (UTC)

Still being recorded as of the failed release date. Afitzpatrick25 (talk) 12:29, 31 August 2020 (UTC)

Talk about leaks/rumors

There ARE leaks that exist (5 full, 23 snippets, 10 recordings as of now), but in my opinion it's not appropriate to talk about specific leaks or accidental releases unless they are for some reason newsworthy. I saw an edit recently that removed a line talking about the album being "leaked" to SoundCloud and YouTube--indeed no leak of the entire album exists (AFAIK), but the edit notes claimed that no leaks/snippets at all exist, which simply isn't true. It's extremely easy to find real and credible leaks for pretty much all Kanye projects, as I did just now to double check and make sure I wasn't crazy about the leaks existing. In summation, leaks aren't inherently worthy of being included, they are a common and recurring event in Kanye's career; it might be worth looking into creating a page ABOUT leaks and the general history of them, seeing as there is such a huge volume of information on the subject? Unconfirmed cover art

Since the article is locked, I suggest someone remove the cover art posted currently. It stems from this July 2020 tweet -- https://twitter.com/kanyewest/status/1287151490348412928 -- and though it may still be valid, given Kanye's propensity for art changes and the current word that there may be other art in contention, it should not be added until it is released by a verified source.

Also, the Wikimedia page for the coverart lists the album title as Donda: With Child -- have never seen that subtitle referenced anywhere else. Recommend this is either cited or removed. 98.217.255.37 (talk) 18:35, 20 July 2021 (UTC)

^ Not true, Kanye has referenced this subtitle himself many times, example 1: https://twitter.com/kanyewest/status/1285785408010252289?lang=en Sixone63 (talk) 08:10, 26 July 2021 (UTC)

Continuous reverts:

Sixone63, please take a moment to read the first few lines on the wikipedia policy at Wikipedia:No original research.

Wikipedia articles must not contain original research. The phrase "original research" (OR) is used on Wikipedia to refer to material—such as facts, allegations, and ideas—for which no reliable, published sources exist.[a] This includes any analysis or synthesis of published material that serves to reach or imply a conclusion not stated by the sources.

Providing a discord or youtube image of artists recording does not mean you should be putting it in a wiki article, because you don't have a source stating "Playboi Carti and 2Chainz recorded at Kanye's locker room" – actually you did provide one verifying 2Chainz's appearance, which is why I kept it in my edit (which you reverted 1 minute after). You can't simply revert everyone who disagrees with you, we're collaborating here. When you reverted Doggy54321's edits, you said "will need 3rd opinion if youre going to continue to unfairly undo". Well here I am, the third opinion. So please stop this foolish reverting and edit warring, thanks — Mcguy15 (talk, contribs) 15:29, 26 July 2021 (UTC)

foolish lol
ill continue to edit as i wish, im acting in good faith and want this wiki page to be fully up to date.
published sources? there is photographic and video evidence backing this up, on Kanye's Instagram there is a picture of Carti recording in the stadium, 2 Chainz also posted a similar picture but deleted,
thanks :))
Sixone63 (talk) 15:31, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
@Sixone63: "do I need to wait for some shitty website to repost these images for it to be considered "good enough" for you bro?" Yes, you do: WP:RS — Mcguy15 (talk, contribs) 15:39, 26 July 2021 (UTC)

  • @Sixone63: You have now reverted four times within the past 24 hours, which is a violation of WP:3RR. Additionally, you continue to restore information that is not backed up by reliable sources. Three editors now have challenged the material you have put into the article so it doesn't matter that an admin told you the content was allowed to be in the article, per WP:TROPHY. Please stop reverting. Thanks! DđŸ¶ggy54321 (let's chat!) 16:04, 26 July 2021 (UTC)

@Doggy54321: Actually we are getting somewhere here, MCguy has confirmed some of the refs and information posted is correct, they just wanted more regarding Carti's involvement which I have posted in my most recent edit. So now, what content is disputed? I have provided refs for 2 Chainz involvement which @Mcguy15: accepted, and I have updated Carti refs. Also, 4th revert was due to someone editing as I was submitting, causing my edit to be futile. it is what it is Sixone63 (talk) 16:08, 26 July 2021 (UTC)

August 6th release date

It is stated in the article that, quote, “Another release date, August 6, was confirmed by West himself, but the album remained unreleased.” I can’t find any evidence that Kanye himself confirmed this date, and neither of the two sources cited mention August 6 at all; both are reports on the original July 23 release date shown in the Beats commercial. If an actual source confirming that Kanye himself did say this can be found, that should replace the two cited sources there. Otherwise, that line should be updated to reflect that fact that this date was given by collaborators and never by Kanye, or removed altogether. Offchristianamr (talk) 18:23, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

@Offchristianamr: West alluded to the fact that something Donda-related would be happening on August 5 per [1], although this was later revealed to be listening party #3, and this was never officially confirmed. I do not think we should put words in his mouth, and, as such, I have removed that information from the article for now. Thanks! DđŸ¶ggy54321 (let's chat!) 00:02, 8 August 2021 (UTC)
