[edit]I've added a link to the existing Wikipedia category "Church of England churches in Leicestershire", but I did this by including a hyperlink (using a URL to reference the webpage), as I was unable to work out the correct Wikipedia syntax to reference the category directly. I would appreciate it if a Wikipedia expert could advise on how to do this.

- Done, i've moved things a round a bit too, we don't normally link out to categories or external websites from directly within articles like that. David Underdown (talk) 21:54, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Why would a new cathedral be needed when Peterborough Abbey was there already? In Edward Lewes Cutts (1895). A Dictionary of the Church of England (3rd (revised) ed.). Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge. (pp. 454-458) it is related how the last abbot of this very wealthy abbey was able to negotiate with the Visitors appointed by the king and then became bishop of the new diocese. Cutts bases his account of the Peterborough diocese on G. A. Poole's diocesan history Peterborough; there is no mention of a new cathedral, only a summary of the events of the period from the erection of the diocese to the Restoration of the monarchy.--Johnsoniensis (talk) 00:30, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
- Leicestershire was included in the Diocese of Peterborough in 1839; having remained in the Diocese of Lincoln from 1541 to 1839.--Johnsoniensis (talk) 06:43, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
