This subject is notable, both in terms of sport and scholarship. It is an important part of many sports. As far as the literature goes, there are many studies that examine what contributes to a DNF. Andrew32706:58, 13 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The original author may be most familiar with some of the disciplines listed, but practically every mass-start footrace and cycling race uses DNF designation in its published results. I suggest removing more niche categories such as speedcubing from the main list and adding amateur mass-start races of all disciplines to it.
