[edit]I've corrected some misspellings and added some references (including one to my own book, but I shan't mind if someone else takes it out!) I've also clarified (I hope) the status of the text and its missing sections. I removed the mention of pornography among the topics discussed in the Deipnosophists. It is discussed extremely briefly: two pages in seven volumes, among all the other topics that occur, don't merit mention in an article of this size. There are clearly a few minor errors in the two quotations, but I'm not able to correct these. Andrew Dalby 21:50, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
Well, I've now tried to correct the English in one of them. I've also moved here the paragraph and references on pederasty originally added to the Athenaeus article by William Percy. It fits better here. There is temporarily slightly too much on this topic (I think) but the answer will be to balance it out by adding more on other subjects covered in the Deipnosophists, which, with luck, others will help me do. I have moved some details on Mithaecus to a new article on this author; in return, I've added here some information on other cookery authors quoted in the Deipnosophists. Andrew Dalby 18:38, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
