Article written confusingly

[edit]

On the Johnny Cash show ca. 1970, this person was definitely presenting as male under the name "Dick Feller". The use of feminine pronouns when describing the earlier life unfortunately creates confusion for the reader. AnonMoos (talk) 03:09, 9 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please see MOS:GENDERID. Wikipedia policy is quite clear on using the currently preferred name and pronouns for BLP subjects, and explaining deadnames as required - which this article does reasonably well, in its present form. Newimpartial (talk) 23:29, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
While MOS:DEADNAME does not currently provide specific guidance on past surnames, I've opted to replace most instances of her previous surname with she/her pronouns. In accordance with these interim guidelines (regarding the use–mention distinction), my edit attempts to "mention" the deadname the minimum number of times, and never directly use it to describe the subject. @RoxySaunders: and @Newimpartial: Could one of you see that Category:Songs written by Dick Feller gets changed accordingly to reflect her present name? Thanks. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 14:32, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have fixed the song articles and the text of the category description, but someone else should nominate the category for a move (or otherwise move it). Newimpartial (talk) 15:23, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like Richhoncho already nominated the category. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 16:43, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
