[edit]Hi, I must say that I agree, DBP is amazing. He is also a great bloke - one of my best mates. Cheers dave!
There 'was' a much more detailed biog here for a short while, before it got reverted out.
Presumably this was because it was taken from Dave's own website, rather than any other infringment? Elcondor 19:35, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
Dave Benson-Phillips is a legend. :D Just thought I'd say that... may be a bit irrelevant but yeah. :D --Finlay 12:11, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
He has a very big face, big enough to be noteworthy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.143.58.116 (talk) 04:06, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
Is that 'criminal conviction' bit true?
NO Elcondor 20:10, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
has anyone ver called get your own back a "satire" before??
I wouldn't call it that, it seems to be an overanalysis of the original concept. Also, I can't remember these games being played Elcondor 21:17, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
Rumors
[edit]Is it true that Dave Benson Phillips wrote this wiki-entry all by himself, or did he have help from friends? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.104.81.18 (talk) 22:43, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
Babestation
[edit]Quoting the article: "In addition, he presented links for the SKY channel "Babestation", in which he gave a cheeky and irreverant commentary on the filth taking place." He did? Sounds a bit odd to me, no source either. Fishy... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.13.14.126 (talk) 16:57, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
Name and hyphen
[edit]He has a hyphen in his surname, see this BBC article. Thanks, SqueakBox 01:22, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Name and Hyphen 2
[edit]There is NO hyphen in his surname... it is simply, Dave Benson Phillips. 13th March 2012 — Preceding unsigned comment added by RMasters3434 (talk • contribs) 10:14, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
The categories False internet claims & Trolling and Benson Phillips' ADHD (aka ADD)
[edit]The categories False internet claims & Trolling and Benson Phillips' ADHD (aka ADD) shoudl be removed as they are unreferenced and the trolling one is not really notable and searching google there are no reliable stories for it.C. 22468 Talk to me 11:11, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
The categories False internet claims & Trolling and Benson Phillips' ADHD (aka ADD)
[edit]After receiving a friendly notice from Wikipedia, I have replaced the piece that was taken out. As Dave's manager and friend, I have tackled much wrongful information about about his career over the past few years. From 'Facebook's RIP DBP' to 'Football 365's' DBP Death Hoax. Even Wikipedia carried an item citing that Dave had worked for the adult entertainment channel, Babestation. This of course is not true. The false Dave Benson Phillips accounts that sent abusive messages to people who joined the sites, because they actually thought it was him. Link to that the years of abusive and racist telephone calls and emails to his office, phony job offers and generally referring to him as a 'retard'.
What is abundantly clear is that people believe what has been written on Wikipedia and other social information sites, and people believed what they read about Dave.
Over the years, I have have managed to get the sites to erase the harmful information about Dave, although some examples still remain. Wikipedia was my latest one to approach.
All I want to do is to write the truth about him.
What's wrong with that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by RMasters3434 (talk • contribs) 18:43, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
- The article only has one reference and needs more, it is also important to make sure that the page does not become a Fansite.C. 22468 Talk to me 23:39, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
Reply from RMasters3434...
It is not my intention to create a fansite, but to build the foundation of truth from a reliable source. Something that was severly lacking in Dave Benson Phillips' previous Wikipedia articles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RMasters3434 (talk • contribs) 01:23, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
- The problem here in that in, as you describe, trying to provide the truth, you're doing so without providing references to reliable sources. You may wish to read that page to understand what is required here. These requirements are taken even more seriously where articles about people are involved exactly to reduce the risk of false information being allowed into articles and the real consequences that may result.
- I would note that it is not enough for you as someone who claims to know Dave to add information to the article on the basis of whatever knowledge you may have. It must be published in reliable sources. Thus, unless reliable sources can be found for the information you wish to add, it should remain out of the article.
- Unless there are reliable sources for the information you wish to add, I would suggest you focus on ensuring that other unsourced content is not added to the article, rather than introducing your own. Adambro (talk) 12:26, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
Reply to Adambro from RMasters3434 I can see this is going to difficult. I shall take your advice and gain information from reliable sources, and not from Dave himself, his wife, family and friends, because he and they are obviously not reliable.
There are a few things to consider... In the article, there is a two-year gap. The last reported time period at the moment is 2008, then 2011 when Dave is writing shows with his wife. Question: how would YOU best describe the gap?
As for his ADHD, as I far as I know, this is well documented.
I wonder if you and your Wikipedia personnel will be so quick to throw out the the spurious claims about Dave when they start to re-surface. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RMasters3434 (talk • contribs) 17:42, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
